English Language Arts

Unit 2: Wild and Endangered Animals

Week 8: Research Question #7

Is this animal endangered? What are its threats to its survival?

Reading

Examine the way authors use print features.

Conduct short, sustained research projects based on focused questions.

Phonological/Phonemic Awareness

Syllables, Onset and Rime, Phoneme Manipulation

Phonics/Word Study

Read, spell, and analyze one-syllable words. (oa, ee, & ea)

Writing

We will write Ch. 7 to teach our readers about whether our animal is endangered or not and what threats it might face.

Math

We will learn about time to the hour.

Science/S.S

We will learn about moon phases, stars, and daily patterns.

  • Week of Feb. 12 - Parent/Teacher Conferences

(invite only if needed)

  • Feb. 14 - Valentine’s Day Party

  • Feb. 16 & 19 - No School!

  • Please make sure your child has a water bottle AND snack at school. I still have many without.

  • Remove papers from Take Home Folders every night and make sure they return each day. Also, make sure you return the home reading pocket each day so we can log your child’s steps and exchange books.

  • Please make sure your child has shoes to change into every day so they do not have to track wetness and mud through our classroom and hallways.

  • We will be finishing up our winter assessments this week. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest!
