Highly competitive speech and debate team that competes at the local through national level seeks students who crave a challenge. There is an event for everybody– just give it a try– so that you can develop friendships with competitors throughout the state while honing skills that are directly linked to future success in college and the job market. Because this is a competitive team, new members must join before November 1st so they can be prepared for the season.

DECA: Students will learn from business professionals at leadership conference trips and competitions. We also meet every Tuesday right after school in New Main room N120 to build community and prepare for events. Membership is free and snacks are always provided at the meetings.

National Honor Society

Robotics Club
Robotics combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams are challenged to hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real-world engineering” as a student can get.

Future Farmers of America (FFA)
FFA is a dynamic youth organization within agriculture education that changes lives and prepares students for premier leadership, personal growth and career success. FFA Membership is open to those students who are enrolled in an agriculture education course at MVHS this year. Qualifying courses are: Plants & Landscaping, Greenhouse Management, Shop Technology, Welding, Metal Art, Animal Science, Floral Design or an Independent Study class. Members can participate in all FFA activities including field trips, service projects and functions and are eligible to participate in contest areas and earn recognition through our chapter. Members are also qualified to apply for over $2 million in scholarships!

Teen Court
Teen Court, a partnership with the Skagit County Juvenile Court, allows students make real decisions on consequences in cases involving local youth. Members have flexible opportunities, but whether you chose to be an advocate and work with local lawyers to create a case, or a jury member determining the final verdict, you can expect to learn about law, restorative justice, and public speaking, all while helping fellow students.
