What to do if your bill has changed and/or been killed?

  • During the legislative season, bills can get edited and changed so much that they no longer are true to their original intent.
  • Another possibility is that bills die in one committee or another due to lack of support.
  • If either of these has happened to your bill, then include the information to the right in your slide show.
  • You may have to get assistance from your Mentor to find this information out.
  1. List the committee and legislators who killed or altered the bill
  2. Include their email addresses and phone numbers
    1. Look up assembly members
    2. Look up state senators
  3. Include a short email script for members of the public to voice their disagreement
  4. If the bill has a chance to be revived, include that information . (Again might need to get assistance from your Mentor)

Caution-

Only to be used if your bill has been killed or seriously altered.
