Southwest Virginia Community College
Partnering to provide high school students the opportunities of a higher education institute, as demonstrated in this article from local news station WCYB. Featured on television and online Felicia Street a high school student graduated from Southwest Virginia Community College with an associate degree before graduating high school. She was able to accomplish this goal through the dual enrollment opportunities offered.
Community Partners
Boys and Girls Club of Central Appalachia provide virtual reality headsets to all Elementary Schools in the district to provide learning experiences that are out of this world.

Teachers and Leaders meet to continue planning innovation strategies for use in the classroom.
One-to-One Technology
Every student enrolled in Buchanan County Public Schools are provided with one to one technology. This has provided the students learning opportunities with the same tools they will use in college or the workforce.

July 16, 2019
Buchanan County School Board passed a policy revision stating inpart:
II. Examinations/cumulative course assessments which includes presentation and researched based paper or course assessment which will reflect the course content and objectives of the course. This may include (but are not limited to: labs, essays, works of art, performance, problem-based learning, multimedia productions, oral examination, culminating activities or projects which includes presentation and researched based paper or course assessment which will reflect the course content and objectives of the course.

A website for teachers to collaborate and learn from each other on engaging strategies. This website includes local and curriated materials to help teachers increase their classroom engagement.
