What does a school counselor DO?

We work alongside teachers and parents to help students develop

social-emotional, academic and career skills, and to help remove any barriers they have to learning!

We provide:

  • School Wide Activities
  • Classroom lessons teaching social-emotional, career and academic skills (e.g. identifying & managing feelings, organization skills, and friendship skills)
  • Small group counseling
  • Brief Solution-Focused individual counseling
  • School transition support
  • Consultation with parents and teachers
  • Community resource referrals (including longer term therapy services)

Hi! I’m Ms. Hoppis. The 2025-2026 school year will be my 12th year serving as Illahee’s School Counselor. I am proud to be a Raven! It is my honor to work with such dedicated staff. I simply LOVE my job and our Illahee Family! Go RAVENS!

Hi! I’m Mr. Payette and this will be my 13th year as a School Counselor. I will be half time at Illahee and half time at Orchards Elementary this school year. While at Illahee, I will primarily serve our 1st and 2nd grade students. I look forward to this year and am thrilled to be a part of this community.
