About Zero Waste Apeldoorn

  • A local citizens’ initiative working together with Zero Waste the Netherlands
  • Goal is to prevent or reduce waste
  • What they do:
    • Active Facebook group for tips, tricks & ideas (almost 1.000 members). Also Instagram (620), LinkedIn (216), Twitter (211) and a website
    • Promote local shops/companies where you can buy your groceries packaging-free
    • Litter clean-ups (about 250 active members)
    • Workshops for making your own deo or soap
    • And recently a whole Zero Waste week together with partners such as the thrift shop and museum

Zero Waste week Apeldoorn ‘21

  • 18 Sep: Litter cleanup (World Cleanup Day) stimulating active civic participation, workshops, lecture Plastic Soup Surfer & the Zwerfinator during a litter pickers gathering
  • 19 Sep: Focus on education and information with lectures from 2 Zero Waste pioneers in the Netherlands, Zero waste picknick and sustainable market
  • 20 Sep: Company Day, open doors and guided tours with focus on sustainable innovations & technology
  • 21 Sep: Focus on circularity, secondhand, re-use and the sharing economy, including release of new routemaps to the various second-hand clothes stores and thrift stores, and the 70+ mini-libraries spread out in and around the municipality.
  • 22 Sep: Active DO DAY, with a great range of workshops, focus on DYI, Make, Repair and Repair Cafe's. Later in the day: information evening on cloths nappies.
  • 23 Sep: Focus on Zero waste groceries (package-free, local, organic) and on foodwaste prevention.
  • 24 Sep: "Green Day", with focus on biodiversity, gardens, local Green Initiatives and Vegan Friday

  • Different promotion and discount actions during the week
