Coming into the building:

  1. Walk single file. Walk calmly.
  2. Voices are off, level 0.
  3. Line up outside the classroom door; wait.
  4. Enter one at a time.
  5. Greet the teacher.

Remember:

Students should NOT be in the classroom without the teacher.

Entering the classroom:

  1. Hang up backpack and jacket on hooks. Fill the hooks on the wall first.

(Backpacks may be kept on chairs.)

  • Put home lunch in the wagon

  • Put any homework in sorter.

  • Mark attendance.

5. Walk to your seat quietly.

6. Begin self-start.

Lining up

  • Wait for your name or row to be called.
  • Tuck in chairs.
  • Quietly walk to the line.
  • Stand single file, voices off or at level 1.
  • Make good choices!

Walking in the hallway

  1. Walk single file.
  2. Hands at sides.
  3. Face forward.
  4. Voices are at 0.
  5. Right side, 2nd tile.

Inside day before school begins:

  1. Enter building quietly.
  2. Sit in the gym in our designated spot.
  3. Voices at LEVEL 1.
  4. Wait for the duty to dismiss you.

When you are tardy:

  1. Enter front doors.
  2. Check in at the office.
  3. Hurry to class. Walk in quietly.
  4. Get to work.

  • Everyone starts each day on green!
  • Clip up for good choices, clip down for poor choices.
  • You can always make a U-turn.
  • Earn $$ for class store!

Bathroom Procedures

  • Please use the restroom at recess!!
  • In class: give the signal; then wait.
  • Walk using hallway procedures.
  • Quickly use bathroom. Wash hands.
  • Enter classroom quietly.
  • Get back to work.

Lining up for lunch

  1. Wait for your table or row to be called.
  2. Put lunch box in lunch wagon.
  3. Get jackets, hats, gloves, etc.
  4. Check out PE equipment; put in lunch wagon.
  5. Stand in line quietly.

Getting a drink

  • Go straight to the class water fountain.
  • Get a quick drink.
  • Return quickly to seat.

  • You may bring your own water bottle. It must have a tight lid, have your name on it, and be kept by the sink or on the floor by your desk (NOT on your desk).

Sharpening pencils

  • Always have 2-3 sharpened pencils.
  • NO use of electric sharpener during instruction.
  • Put dull pencils in “Needs Sharpening” can; take a new pencil.
  • If you bring a pencil sharpener, it MUST catch the shavings.
  • You are responsible to clean up shavings on the floor.

Celebrating birthdays!

  • We celebrate birthdays and half birthdays!
  • You may bring a store-bought treat to share with the class.
  • Birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the day.

Laptop use in the classroom

  • You MUST abide by the internet usage agreement that you signed.
  • Always carry Chromebooks with BOTH hands, lid CLOSED.
  • Absolutely NO food or drink when using computers.
  • Websites need to be approved BEFORE you enter the site.
  • During instruction, computers must be halfway closed.
  • It is a privilege to use computers.

Outside Recess

  1. Line up using line up procedures.
  2. Follow Ms. Ligget, using hallway procedures.
  3. Hold equipment in line.
  4. Use the restroom, get drinks!!
  5. Follow playground procedures.

  1. Choose equipment.
  2. Put name card in pocket.
  3. Use equipment responsibly.
  4. Return equipment.
  5. Take out name card.

  2. Quiet activity (game, puzzle, book, draw)
  3. Bathroom, drinks.
  4. Clean up when bell rings.

  3. Sit in assigned place, criss-cross.

1. Clean up: desk/floor/job.

2. Read, wait for name or row to be called.

3. Backpack, jackets, lunch box.

4. Mailbox.

5. Pack up.

6. Stand in quietly and wait to be dismissed by your teacher (NOT the bell).

The bell does NOT dismiss you! Mrs. Ligget dismisses you.

  1. Wait for table to be called.
  2. Line up quietly.
  3. Give a high 5 on the way out!

Fire drills

  1. Stop everything.
  2. Push in chair.
  3. Line up quickly and quietly.
  4. Follow Mrs. Ligget, single file.
  5. Caboose turns OFF the lights, SHUTS the door.
  6. Proceed to upper field.
  7. SILENTLY wait for directions from Ms. Gagon.

Earthquake Drill

  1. Stop everything!
  2. Get under desk.
  3. Count to 100.

4. If stops, exit building like a fire drill.

5. If still going, wait until it stops, start counting, then exit building.

Lockdown Drill

  1. Soft lockdown: stay inside building and continue working.
  2. Hard lockdown: stay in classroom, lock door, continue working.
  3. Safety lock down: Lock door, turn off lights, sit quietly behind the piano.
