How It Works

  • There is a P-Tech Team
  • The teachers are very supportive
  • Your child will spend more time on the subjects they need most for college and a career (math, science, technology)

  • Your child will take their first college class before they enter 11th grade

  • Your child will potentially have 20-30 college credits BEFORE THEY GRADUATE from Troy High School!

  • Your child will complete their Associate’s degree in P-Tech; they can go to work or transfer to a 4 year college!

  • We pay your child’s tuition and costs for books and supplies

Key Points Parents and Students Should Know

  • Students WILL work in groups
  • Teachers may change throughout the year
  • Grades and behavior are monitored constantly
  • Discipline referrals can result in immediate dismissal from the program
  • Attendance is a key factor to success in the program (others are counting on you)
  • Class presentations are frequent and required
  • P-TECH schedules are rigid 1st choice electives may not be possible

  • Some courses will count towards their High School Diploma and College Degree

  • Some courses will be taught by Troy HS teachers

  • Some courses will be taught by a College Professor and a Troy HS Teacher

  • Your child will take some courses at HVCC while they are still in high school during 11th and 12th grade

*They will earn a degree without any student loan debt!

  • Past School Performance – Includes grades(not the number one criterion), test scores, attendance, and behavior.
