SCRIPTURE
1 And I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.
2 But, behold, my Beloved Son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me—Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.
3 Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down;

We need agency and opposition in order to grow
Wolfgang H. Paul
Of the Seventy
When we came into this world, we brought with us from our heavenly home this God-given gift and privilege which we call our agency. It gives us the right and power to make decisions and to choose. Agency is an eternal law…Thus, our agency makes our life on this earth a test period. If we did not have this wonderful gift of agency, we would not be able to show our Father in Heaven whether we will do all that He commanded us.
In order for us to use our agency, we must have a knowledge of good and evil, we must have the freedom to make choices, and after we have exercised our agency, there must be consequences that follow our choices. I have learned that as we obey our Heavenly Father’s commandments, our faith increases, we grow in wisdom and spiritual strength, and it becomes easier for us to make right choices.
- Elder Wolfgang H. Paul, “The Gift of Agency,”General Conference, April 2006
As a Child of God(Children’s Friend)
MUSIC
I came to earth with power to choose.
Good choices bless me and my family too.
As a child of God, I receive special light:
The Holy Ghost helps me to know what is right.
I feel so safe and happy because
Such feelings of peace come from family love.
As a child of God, I receive special light:
The Holy Ghost helps me to know what is right.
In my own home I’ll happily serve.
I’ll strengthen my family by my good works.
As a child of God, I receive special light:
The Holy Ghost helps me to know what is right.

Satan seeks “to deceive and to blind” us
Satan seeks “to deceive and to blind” us
SCRIPTURE
4 And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.
6 And Satan put it into the heart of the serpent, (for he had drawn away many after him,) and he sought also to beguile Eve, for he knew not the mind of God, wherefore he sought to destroy the world.
10 And the serpent said unto the woman: Ye shall not surely die;
11 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
12 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it became pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make her wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and also gave unto her husband with her, and he did eat.
- Moses 4:4, 6, 10-12
Satan seeks “to deceive and to blind” us
Dallin H. Oaks
Of the First Presidency
Satan…seeks to confuse and deceive us, to get us on a low road that leads away from our eternal destination. In the beginning, when a powerful spirit was cast down for rebellion, “he became Satan, …the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will”. He and the spirits who follow him are still deceiving the world. Modern revelation declares that “Satan hath sought to deceive you, that he might overthrow you”…When Satan’s lies succeed in deceiving us, we become vulnerable to his power.
…One kind of deception seeks to mislead us about whom we should follow…Satan also seeks to deceive us about right and wrong and persuade us that there is no such thing as sin…Many in the world deny the need for a Savior. Others deny that there is any right or wrong, and they scoff at the idea of sin or a devil…I pray that we will do all that is necessary to avoid the deceptions of the devil.
- President Dallin H. Oaks, “Be Not Deceived,” General Conference, October 2004
Choose Him Again(Music for Children)
MUSIC
1. Before we came here we all lived in heaven
With Heavenly Father and Jesus His Son
It's where they taught us to choose good from evil
To be prepared for the battle to come
For Satan tried to destroy us forever
To make us turn from the things we were taught
But nothing could keep us from choosing Jesus
For we loved the plan of God
And now we're on earth to prove we'll be faithful
Keep His commandments and follow His ways
For we're still fighting for good over evil
Not with a sword but with courage and faith
And we will rise up and stand with our Savior
Forever true to the things we've been taught
And nothing can keep us from choosing Jesus
For we love the plan of God

Chorus:
And we will choose Him again, for He's our Savior and friend
He'll help and guide us each day, and He will show us the way
To be the best us we possibly can
Oh we will choose Him, we will choose Him again
Satan seeks “to deceive and to blind” us
The Fall of Adam and Eve was part of God’s plan
The Fall of Adam and Eve was part of God’s plan
SCRIPTURE
1 And it came to pass that after I, the Lord God, had driven them out, that Adam began to till the earth, and to have dominion over all the beasts of the field, and to eat his bread by the sweat of his brow, as I the Lord had commanded him. And Eve, also, his wife, did labor with him.
10 And in that day Adam blessed God and was filled, and began to prophesy concerning all the families of the earth, saying: Blessed be the name of God, for because of my transgression my eyes are opened, and in this life I shall have joy, and again in the flesh I shall see God.
11 And Eve, his wife, heard all these things and was glad, saying: Were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.
- Moses 5:1, 10-11
The Fall of Adam and Eve was part of God’s plan
Jeffrey R. Holland
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
In our increasingly secular society, it is as uncommon as it is unfashionable to speak of Adam and Eve or the Garden of Eden or of a “fortunate fall” into mortality. Nevertheless, the simple truth is that we cannot fully comprehend the Atonement and Resurrection of Christ and we will not adequately appreciate the unique purpose of His birth or His death…without understanding that there was an actual Adam and Eve who fell from an actual Eden, with all the consequences that fall carried with it.
…I testify that “all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things.” Thus, from the moment those first parents stepped out of the Garden of Eden, the God and Father of us all, anticipating Adam and Eve’s decision, dispatched the very angels of heaven to declare to them—and down through time to us—that this entire sequence was designed for our eternal happiness. It was part of His divine plan, which provided for a Savior, the very Son of God Himself…who would come in the meridian of time to atone for the first Adam’s transgression.

I Know My Father Lives(Children’s Songbook #5)
MUSIC
1. I know my Father lives and loves me too.
The Spirit whispers this to me and tells me it is true,
And tells me it is true.
2. He sent me here to earth, by faith to live his plan.
The Spirit whispers this to me and tells me that I can,
And tells me that I can.

The Fall of Adam and Eve was part of God’s plan
1:53
I can pray to Heavenly Father
I can pray to Heavenly Father
SCRIPTURE
4 And Adam and Eve, his wife, called upon the name of the Lord, and they heard the voice of the Lord from the way toward the Garden of Eden, speaking unto them, and they saw him not; for they were shut out from his presence.
5 And he gave unto them commandments, that they should worship the Lord their God…
6 And after many days an angel of the Lord appeared unto Adam, saying: Why dost thou offer sacrifices unto the Lord? And Adam said unto him: I know not, save the Lord commanded me.
7 And then the angel spake, saying: This thing is a similitude of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten of the Father, which is full of grace and truth.
8 Wherefore, thou shalt do all that thou doest in the name of the Son, and thou shalt repent and call upon God in the name of the Son forevermore.
- Moses 5:4-8
I can pray to Heavenly Father
Rex D. Pinegar
Of the Seventy
Our Father in Heaven has promised us peace in times of trial and has provided a way for us to come to Him in our need. He has given us the privilege and power of prayer. He has told us to “pray always” and has promised He will pour out His Spirit upon us.
Thankfully, we can call upon Him anytime, anywhere. We can speak to Him in the quiet thoughts of our mind and from the deepest feelings of our heart. It has been said, “prayer is made up of heart throbs and the righteous yearnings of the soul.” Our Heavenly Father has told us He knows our thoughts and the intents of our hearts.
…If we…have the faith to put our trust in our Father in Heaven, to submit to His will, the true spirit of peace will come as a witness and strength that He has heard and answered our prayers.
- Elder Rex D. Pinegar, “Peace through Prayer,”General Conference, April 1993
A Child’s Prayer(Children’s Songbook #12)
MUSIC
1. Heavenly Father, are you really there?
And do you hear and answer ev’ry child’s prayer?
Some say that heaven is far away,
But I feel it close around me as I pray.
Heavenly Father, I remember now
Something that Jesus told disciples long ago:
“Suffer the children to come to me.”
Father, in prayer I’m coming now to thee.

2. Pray, he is there;
Speak, he is list’ning.
You are his child;
His love now surrounds you.
He hears your prayer;
He loves the children.
Of such is the kingdom,
the kingdom of heav’n.

Jesus Christ’s Atonement offers hope and redemption from the Fall
Jesus Christ’s Atonement offers hope and redemption from the Fall
SCRIPTURE
12 And Adam and Eve blessed the name of God, and they made all things known unto their sons and their daughters.
13 And Satan came among them, saying: I am also a son of God; and he commanded them, saying: Believe it not; and they believed it not, and they loved Satan more than God. And men began from that time forth to be carnal, sensual, and devilish.
14 And the Lord God called upon men by the Holy Ghost everywhere and commanded them that they should repent;
15 And as many as believed in the Son, and repented of their sins, should be saved; and as many as believed not and repented not, should be damned; and the words went forth out of the mouth of God in a firm decree; wherefore they must be fulfilled.
16 And Adam and Eve, his wife, ceased not to call upon God.
- Moses 5:12-16
Jesus Christ’s Atonement offers hope and redemption from the Fall
M. Russell Ballard
Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Our Father’s plan provides for redemption from the Fall through the atonement of Jesus Christ. As the Only Begotten Son of God and the only sinless person to live on this earth, he made a perfect atonement for all mankind. It applies to everyone unconditionally as it pertains to the resurrection from temporal, or physical, death, for all shall rise from the dead with immortal bodies as a result of the Atonement. However, the Atonement is conditional as it pertains to each person’s individual sins. It touches everyone to the degree that he or she has faith in Jesus Christ, repents, and obeys the gospel. Exaltation and eternal life with God are reserved for those who keep the commandments.
…As we trust in God and his plan for our happiness with all our hearts and lean not unto our own understanding, hope is born. Hope grows out of faith and gives meaning and purpose to all we do.
- President M. Russell Ballard, “Answers to Life’s Questions,”General Conference, April 1995
I Lived in Heaven(Children’s Songbook #4)
MUSIC
1. I lived in heaven a long time ago, it is true;
Lived there and loved there with people I know. So did you.
Then Heav’nly Father presented a beautiful plan,
All about earth and eternal salvation for man.
2. Father said he needed someone who had enough love
To give his life so we all could return there above.
There was another who sought for the honor divine.
Jesus said, “Father, send me, and the glory be thine.”
3. Jesus was chosen, and as the Messiah he came,
Conquering evil and death through his glorious name,
Giving us hope of a wonderful life yet to be
Home in that heaven where Father is waiting for me.

Jesus Christ’s Atonement offers hope and redemption from the Fall
2:36
God will accept my sacrifices if I offer them with a willing and obedient heart
God will accept my sacrifices if I offer them with a willing and obedient heart
SCRIPTURE
20 …And the Lord had respect unto Abel, and to his offering;
21 But unto Cain, and to his offering, he had not respect. Now Satan knew this, and it pleased him. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
22 And the Lord said unto Cain: Why art thou wroth? Why is thy countenance fallen?
23 If thou doest well, thou shalt be accepted. And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door, and Satan desireth to have thee; and except thou shalt hearken unto my commandments, I will deliver thee up, and it shall be unto thee according to his desire. And thou shalt rule over him;
26 And Cain was wroth, and listened not any more to the voice of the Lord, neither to Abel, his brother, who walked in holiness before the Lord.
- Moses 5:20-23, 26
God will accept my sacrifices if I offer them with a willing and obedient heart
Robert K. Dellenbach
Of the Seventy
Sacrifice is defined as “the act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else more important or worthy.”…Our challenge is to unselfishly sacrifice all that we have been given, including our will. Elder Neal A. Maxwell rightly said: “The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’…are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.” Sacrifice is ultimately a matter of the heart—the heart. “Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind.” If we are caring, if we are charitable, if we are obedient to God and follow His prophets, our sacrifices will bring forth the blessings of heaven. “And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit.”
- Elder Robert K. Dellenbach, “Sacrifice Brings Forth the Blessings of Heaven,”General Conference, April 2018
“Give,” Said the Little Stream(Children’s Songbook #236)
MUSIC
1. “Give,” said the little stream,
“Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.”
“Give,” said the little stream,
As it hurried down the hill;
“I’m small, I know, but wherever I go The fields grow greener still.”
2. “Give,” said the little rain,
“Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.”
“Give,” said the little rain,
As it fell upon the flow’rs;
“I’ll raise their drooping heads again,”
As it fell upon the flow’rs.

3. Give, then, as Jesus gives,
Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.
Give, then, as Jesus gives;
There is something all can give.
Do as the streams and blossoms do:
For God and others live.
Chorus:
Singing, singing all the day,
“Give away, oh! give away.”
Singing, singing all the day,
“Give, oh! give away.”
God will accept my sacrifices if I offer them with a willing and obedient heart
