LCVP Greetings

Hi future volunteers! We're so glad to see your eagerness to be a part of Skill Up!

As time passes, the issues that we face change along the way. The issues include health, education, poverty, and so many more. United Nations are trying to solve these issues through Sustainable Development Goals, known better as SDGs.

Us youths, as agents of change, have the responsibility to be aware and act upon solving these issues. As a part of our contribution towards this effort, AIESEC in UNS has created a program called Skill Up! that focuses on SDGs number 8: "decent work and economic growth." as an effort to create youths that are competent in the workplace.

Let's make a good impact for Surakarta together, with AIESEC!

Program Development Team Leader Greetings

As a youth, we designated to be the next value driven leader for the years ahead. Therefore, we should choose the right opportunity to embrace and shine! Within this Skill Up Local Volunteer project, I highly put a big hope that we will create an impactful outcome to our society, specifically in Surakarta. Our intention to help the adolescents in Surakarta develop bigger is invaluable. Also, through the international networks provided, I hope we could expand the deeper cross cultural understanding.

Introduction & Value Proposition

Introduction : Local Volunteer for Incoming Global Volunteer is a volunteer activity to assist international volunteer who are currently doing social activities in Indonesia. This presents a chance for youth who aspire to grow as leaders and make a genuine difference by promoting intercultural understanding through global interactions.

This type of volunteering takes place within the volunteer’s home country or local community. Local Volunteer opportunities focus on addressing issues and making an impact in areas nearby. These projects aim to create positive change at the most fundamental level through preventative action and foster a sense of responsibility for community development

Value Preposition : For youth : “A chance for young people to develop personally, raise awareness of SDGs, impact society positively, and gaining cross-cultural understanding through interactions with international exchange participants and AIESEC’s partners”

About Skill Up

Issue : The labor force in Surakarta is increasing. The number of labor force in August 2023 reached 291.860 thousand people, an increase of 3.090 thousand people compared to the number of labor force in August 2022. Thus, the unemployment rate in Surakarta City is feared to increase. Therefore, the Surakarta government has made various efforts to effectively reduce the unemployment rate and create employment opportunities for its residents.

Skill Up! is a project aims to impact the SDG number 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by by raising awareness about unemployment prevention in the community.

Our project focuses on enhancing the abilities by offering skills training programs and career guidance sessions to youth in Surakarta. By equipping them with relevant soft and hard skills, as well as guidance on career pathways, we hope to empower youth to qualify for decent jobs so it can reduce unemployment rate in Surakarta and also contribute to the economic growth of Surakarta

Local Volunteer Role

A “Local Volunteer” refers to a youth who participates in a volunteer opportunity within their own country or local community

Local Volunteers contribute to raise awareness about local or community issues by collaborating with international volunteers (Exchange Participants) and working toward the issues through participation on the project activities for six weeks

Benefit

Personal Development & International Exposure : Local volunteers will engage in active communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing with EPs and partners, enhancing their skills, knowledge, and experiences in all aspects.

Contribute in SDGs : By joining the activities, LV will address local issues and contribute the implementation of SDGs

Practical Leadership Experience: Engage in situations where Local Volunteers can practice and enhance their leadership skills in a hands-on environment

Experiencing Social Project with International Exchange Participants and our Partners (OP Taker) Physically : LVs will participate in social project activities with the international volunteers and also AIESEC’s Partner who are actively involved in.
