WEEKS AND FACILITATORS:

Monday, September 12th - Wednesday, 14th

Shore Middle School will attend camp:
Wednesday, September 14th - Friday, September 16th
Facilitators: Mrs. Carol Striskovic and Mrs. Gina Koski

Classes and/or Curriculum Taught:
*Students will rotate through 12 out of 14 different stations throughout their time at camp. Classes will be taught by Camp Fitch Staff and Mentor teachers.

Cabins and Counselors:
**The counselors are a combination of Mentor High School students and parent volunteers who have completed background checks and a screening process prior to being selected.
Types of Cabins/Sleeping Choices
SHIP (open air, 8 per side 16 total, bathroom, uses CABIN showers)
CABIN (all indoor, multiple bathroom stalls and showers)
Examples of Daily Menu Items:
Breakfast: scrambled eggs, pancakes, french toast sticks, cereal
Lunch: toasted cheese, chicken patty, mac and cheese, soup, salad
Dinner: hot dogs, pasta, pizza, salad bar
Beverages: milk, juice, hot chocolate, punch, water
Snacks: fruit, crackers, juice and a variety of low sugar items
Recommended Camp Supplies:
Clothing: camp T-shirt (to be worn on last day), jeans, sweatpants, shorts, shirts, extra socks, tennis shoes, boots, rain poncho, jacket. CHECK THE WEATHER
Personal Items: soap, toothbrush/toothpaste, hair brush/comb, shampoo, towel, pillow, blanket/sleeping bag, sheet etc.
Miscellaneous Items: WATER BOTTLE (with student’s name on it), clipboard, pencil/pen, permanent marker, book to read
Items NOT Allowed: curling irons, electronics of any kind (i.e: cell phones, iPads, handheld gaming devices, etc), food/candy/gum, shaving cream/razors.
Mail To Your Student:
Students LOVE to receive mail at camp from home!
If this is something you would like to do for your child, please put your note in an envelope with the following information and submit it to your home school’s main office at least 2 days prior to your camper leaving for camp. If we do not receive it on time, it will be given to the student at school:

Pack Clothing: all in one suitcase OR one duffle bag
Items to Bring: a bed roll (sleeping bag/blanket, pillow,) sheets are optional
Label: Everything must be clearly labeled with student’s FIRST & LAST NAME
*A strip of duct tape with student’s first and last name is really helpful!
Trash Bags: great for wet clothes and bedding after camp
*ONLY bring to camp what he/she can carry!
*Students are responsible for their own luggage.
WE recommend your student only bring to camp what he/she can carry!
Departure Day for Memorial:
Luggage Drop-Off: Memorial Middle School between 7:00 am and 8:30 am the morning of Monday, September 12th. Material handlers will assist loading Mentor Schools’ equipment truck on the NORTH side of the building (back of the building -> parent drop-off loop)
Students Report: Please make sure your student is prepared to go to school during the normal morning time either on the bus or parent drop-off. Students will report to Advisory WEARING THEIR CAMP T-SHIRT
Departure: at 9:15 AM Students, chaperones, and teachers will be transported to & from Camp Fitch YMCA by a Mentor School bus
PACKED LUNCH: brown bag lunch for 1st day ONLY
Departure Day for Shore:
Luggage Drop-off: at Shore Middle School between 6:30 am and 7:45 am the morning of Wednesday, September 14th. Drop off at the end of the car drop off (near tree by gate) where materials handlers will load the Mentor Schools’ equipment truck
Students Report: Please make sure your student is prepared to go to school during the normal morning time either on the bus or parent drop-off. Students will report to Advisory WEARING THEIR CAMP T-SHIRT

Dismissal Process: Buses will pull in & please listen for directions from teachers/administrators. Students will be dismissed for the day to go home.

Medication:
*All medication must be turned into the Memorial/Shore School Nurses (Mrs. Weber: & Miss Quarm) on the Thursday before leaving for camp. All medication, (including OTC meds), must be in the original container and must have the appropriate forms signed by a physician. Medication forms and medication must be in a plastic bag labeled with child’s first and last name.
*Please email your students’ school nurse or call the school prior to camp with any medication

*ABSOLUTELY NO medication can be carried or packed in the student’s luggage!*
Camp Emergencies:
*In the event that your child is hurt during his/her stay at camp, and it is determined that your child needs more medical attention than can be provided by the camp nurse, your child will be transported by appropriate means to the nearest hospital.
* Phone number to Camp Fitch in the event of an emergency at home is: 814-922-3219. This number is for AN EMERGENCY ONLY!

Students NOT Going to Camp:
*Any student who chooses not to attend the Mentor Schools Outdoor Education Program (camp) for any reason other than illness, will be required to attend school and will be placed in an appropriate setting for the duration of the camp program.
Please inform us ASAP if your student will not be attending!
