Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA)

  • DVR must set aside 15% of its budget to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services to students with a disability ($1.5 M)

    • 14 to 21 and still in School
    • Have an IEP or 504 Plan

OR

  • A student who has a physical, sensory, intellectual, mental health, or communication disability, not “identified” by the school district for special education or related services.

ex. could be students who have difficulties learning or difficulties with attention, or they are challenged in an emotional or behavioral way. This could also include kids who have been through treatment or involved in foster care or juvenile justice.

1. Teacher returns Teacher Vendor application and W9.

2. Teacher returns DVR Request for pre-ETS for all student participants.

3. Jim will issue an Authorization for Purchase (AFP). The AFP is DVR’s version of a purchase order. This authorizes you to bill DVR.

4. Teacher implements modules.

5. Teacher submits one invoice along with student exit surveys for each youth.

It’s pretty darn easy to get started!

            • 4-to-6-week program that combines 145 hr. paid work with 15 hr. paid instruction
            • Over 200 student participants each summer
            • $320,000.00 in student wages paid in 2021

We also fund wages for High School Work Experience Programs during the school year!
