Welcome

This school year will be very different from previous years but we will get through this together. We will establish a learning community that will help you succeed in Band!

PAUS Band members are highly encouraged to have their school media releases signed in order for me to have permission to use your musical video recordings for the purpose of creating a virtual band concert.

Media Releases

Expectations

The expectations during our live class/synchronous learning time are:

  • Find a quiet spot. Pay attention to your background.
  • Be prepared with materials for learning.
  • Arrive on time.
  • Follow class behavior expectations.
  • Earbuds/headset on if possible.
  • Mute microphone. Unmute when it’s your turn to speak.
  • Type questions in the chat. Think before you type.
  • Be attentive and listen to teacher and classmates.
  • No photo or video recordings are allowed.

Instrument Practice

Band students at Putnam Avenue Upper School are expected to practice thirty minutes per day. The key is to set aside a certain time every day for practice. Treating practice as part of your nightly homework will help make it become routine. The secret to success on your instrument is the time spent practicing.
