Art @ home

Hi Stonefields Learners! It’s Mrs Allen here!

Welcome to Art @ Home. I hope you enjoy these weekly art challenges and experiences that you can do at home by yourself or with your family.

I know many of you really, REALLY enjoy doing art, so I have got lots of fun activities for you to do. Most of these art activities do not need many art supplies, so you should be able to make do with what you have around the home or find outside. If you do have other art supplies then that’s great too!

But most importantly have fun!

This week, we are going to share our work on the art challenge padlet.

Tips for parents:

These art challenges are meant to be not only educational but also fun!

I encourage families to work on these weekly challenges together, even if you have children in different year levels at school.

What a great way for younger members of the family to learn from their older siblings and also a wonderful opportunity for an older brother or sister to be the teacher or lead the learning!!

Be creative! These art challenges are a guide to follow but I also LOVE to see creativity and imagination! I know there are plenty of talented artists at Stonefields School!

Learning Intention: We are learning about the art of photography.

What?

Take a photograph of an everyday object from a different perspective.

How?

  1. Search around your home, or go for a walk around your neighbourhood and look for those everyday objects that you would normally not pay any attention to. You could even use a toy and take a photo from it’s perspective! Check out slides 9 and 10 for inspiration.

  • Get up close. Look from a different angle. Notice something different. Look for texture, line, shape, shadow, light, patterns, reflections etc.

  • Using a camera from either a phone, ipad, or digital camera, take several shots of the object from a different perspective or angle.

Think creatively and artistically!

Please think about the CRITERIA for this challenge…to take a photo from a different PERSPECTIVE.

Not every shot should be a close up or just a point and shoot.

Look for different angles. Get down low on the ground - (worm’s eye view), or from from up high - (bird’s eye view) for example.

Look for lines, shapes, colours, textures, shadows etc.

Photoshop is not allowed.

Taking a photo from the internet and calling it your own is not allowed.
