Objective & Steps

Students will be able to create a NoodleTools’ account and share their project with their teacher and their collaboration partner.

  • Create an account: Students will sign up for a NoodleTools account using their mcpsmd.net account.
  • Start a new project: Students will begin a new project for the Black Inventors and Inventions assignment.
  • Share your project with your teacher: Students will share their project with their teacher by entering the teacher’s class title.
  • Share your project with your partner: Students will share their project with their partner by entering student id#@mcpsmd.net.

Log In to NoodleTools!

Click on the Google icon to sign in or register with your Google Account.

If you have changed schools, you can update your school to Odessa Shannon MS by editing your profile.

Let’s Make a Project!

  1. Click on the + New Project green tab in the upper right corner
  2. Give your project a title
  3. Select MLA as the citation style
  4. Select Junior as the citation level
  5. Select Submit

Share your project with your teacher.

  • Under Sharing click on Plus +
  • Select Share with a Teacher’s inbox
  • Click + Share
  • Search for Project Inbox Name
  • Add your name
  • Click Done

  • Under Sharing click on Plus +
  • Select Student Collaboration
  • Click + Add Student
  • Type Student “ID”@mcpsmd.net

Language objective: Students will be able to copy and paste or import database citations into NoodleTools.

  • Locate the citation symbol: Author’s name, title of the webpage, title of the website, publisher, publication date, and URL.
  • Copy and paste or import the citation: Follow the MLA format guidelines.
  • Practice: Create citations for different database resources.

Find a Database Reference Source!

  • Go to the Black Inventors and Their Inventions site.
  • Browse the database sources.
  • Choose a database.
  • Write topic keywords to search.
  • Find an article to use for your research.

Create a Quick cite Citation!

Create a Quick cite citation for your reference source...

  • Click on + New Source.
  • Select Database.

(use a Database for any online source from the MCPS Databases list)

  • Select Reference Source or Article (Most databases provide a citation; locate the Cite icon & copy the citation.)
  • Paste the citation in Quick cite.
  • Or import the citation into

NoodleTools.

Create a citation using information from a website...

  • Click on + New Source.
  • Select Website.

(fill in as much information as is available; you may not be able to add much more than the title, URL, publish date and access date...that is OK!)

  • Click Save
