Grading
This untraditional assessment has all constructed response question items that fall into three categories: Knowledge, Application, and Communication. ��After the DEMI window closes, our SDUSD Math Leadership Team and the Data & Assessment Team at central office reviews and validates student responses for all Knowledge and Application items by Oct. 16th.
For Communication responses (there are two on each DEMI), our joint teams offers Professional Learning and support to score and also analyze the DEMI data.

Dear Families -
The DEMI is a district-wide assessment that does not affect your child’s grade. Instead, it helps your child’s teacher gain insights into how your child solves math problems in context and communicates his/her/their reasoning in writing. This isn’t a test about speed or memorization. Your child will take another DEMI in the Spring and we look forward to seeing how much your child has grown!
