Introduction

  • The Agape Methodist Church (AgMC) Discipleship Road Map is for all worshippers of AgMC.

  • The Roadmap is part of AgMC strategy to develop ourselves as a disciple making church. The aim of a DM church is to enable everyone to grow in spiritual maturity and from there, help others to do likewise.

Introduction

  • The Roadmap seeks to offer worshippers a more structured and customized training system so that they can use the resources to grow in spiritual maturity.

  • Note that some courses are offered on a yearly basis while some might only be offered once every two years or on demand.

Framework

  • Level 1: Seeker / New Believer
  • Level 2: Growing Disciples
  • Level 3: Mature Disciples

Main target audience: Adults and Young Adults. Children and Youth Ministries have their own program. D/N will be approaching these age related ministries for discussion and integration.

  • Seeker / New Believer (less than 2 years or as recommended by the pastors and/or leaders)

    • Alpha Course

    • Baptism and Membership Class

    • Intimacy with God series

PLUS

    • Information pack for congregation on the importance of baptism and being received into Agape’s membership.

Seeker / New Believer

  • Alpha Course (2 times a year)
    • Facilitation by the Witness and Evangelism Team.
    • Graduates of Alpha course might start a new Discipleship Group (DG) with experienced Discipleship Group Leaders or invited to join existing DGs.

Seeker / New Believer (Overview)

  • Baptism and Membership Class
  • Facilitation by the Pastors and Pastoral Team

  • Six sessions (3 x Saturdays, 2-5pm)

    • The Gospel and Kingdom of God
    • History of the Church (Agape MC and Methodism included)
    • Meaning of Church and “membership”
    • Importance of community and the DGs
    • Biblical foundations (Word, Worship, Prayer and Giving)
    • Meaning of Baptism and Holy Communion
    • The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
    • Sharing the Gospel

  • Conversations with the Pastors to get ready for Baptism / and or Membership.

Intimacy with God series

  • Foundational teaching and conversations on:
    • How to pray,
    • How to read, study and apply the word of God
    • How to Worship,
    • How to give
    • How to cultivate spiritual friendships.

  • 3 lessons (Lessons can be used 1on1, DG setting or mass teaching)

Level 2

  • Growing disciples (2-5 years in the faith or as recommended by the pastors and/or leaders)

  1. Feasting on God’s Word (A more in-depth course on how to grow in intimacy with God through His Word)

  • Towards a disciple making church, how to share the Gospel and journeying with someone for discipleship

Level 2

  • Growing disciples (2-5 years in the faith or as recommended by the pastors and/or leaders)

  1. Serving in Ministry – Biblical foundations, prayer, motives, boundaries, accountability, joy, learning to laugh at ourselves and resources.

  • Learning to think theologically (Inspiration and authority of Scripture, One God and Three Persons, Will of God, Angels and Demons, Sin and Repentance, Christ of the Bible, The Holy Spirit, The Church, Last Things)

  • Mature Disciples (>5 years in the faith or as recommended by the pastors)

  • Modules are designed mainly for potential / existing ministry leaders (LCEC, DSGL, Preachers, any other committee ICs)

  • Updates and visioning on Disciple Making framework (LCEC Retreats / DSGL Retreats)

  • Equipping for DSGLs (ongoing. We have covered quite a few topics already e.g. envisioning, facilitation skills, outreach and evangelism, role of DSGLs and shepherding.)

  • One-on-one and Group based disciple making

  • Preaching the word / Sharing a devotional (preaching camp)

  • Leadership Conversations (LCEC)

Other modules

  • Ministry-specific equipping: To be undertaken by ministries in consultation with D/N. For example Worshipping Equipping (10 sessions).

  • Family Discipleship – Discipleship parenting and developing devotional habits within the context of the contemporary family schedules.

  • Book Studies.
