General Note About Ascent

  • Very, very, very important we play our fundamentals properly on Ascent
  • What teams will be doing on Attack & Defence will generally be the same thing so we just have to execute the plan better than the other team
  • Always be aware of ults and be thinking about how we can trade ults e.g Sova ult for KJ ult, Kayo ult to deny ult retakes

Attack

  • Key to Ascent is to make less mistakes than the enemy so cut out silly mistakes
  • We will be heavily relying on our mid-default and a lot of our variation plays will be masked by our normal mid-default
  • During mid-default listen to the IGL since his calls will be reactive to the information we get around the map
  • If we know/think there’s an OP in play be very careful and diligent when peeking angles
  • Always be aware of the potential Tiles crunch, always have someone playing safe just in case and if there is a crunch the A players should go support from Catwalk

Pistol Round

  • Jett dashes down catwalk from barrier drop; Omen smokes bottom mid so Jett can push safely; Kayo knifes close & Sova Recon Tree; Omen Paranoia off any initiator info so Jett has a free fight in Short/Tree
  • After Jett gets into Tree, Omen smokes Garden; Vyse flashes left side, Kayo flash right side, Omen Paranoia on Generator (if he still has it), Sova drones close and we execute onto site

Mid Default

  • Vyse puts deep B main for info, can also flash B main for info too; Sova recons bottom mid & Kayo throws knife for Market; Omen smokes Short and holds A main
  • If playing against Vyse, hold angles so Jett can creep up mid to trigger wall, if against KJ or Cypher then shock dart to break mid util
  • Vyse should be holding B main in case there’s a Tiles crunch, if there’s no aggression then can lurk into B to try and take space or info
  • Decide where to end on depending on info you get
  • If playing against Double Sentinel, we will default more and focus on breaking util

A Execute (Kayo Ult)

  • Will probably run with Kayo ult but can be done without
  • Omen tps across and swing A main with Jett
  • Omen Paranoia Switch and Generator; Sova Recon backsite; Kayo flashes close
  • Jett will fash into smoke first with ulted Kayo behind
  • Vyse will do usual setups in B and lurk through Mid and Tree

A-Split

  • Omen throws smoke Bottom Mid so Kayo & Jett can go down Catwalk; Kayo knifes Bottom Mid for info; Omen tps across A Main and double swings with Sova; Vyse can put Wall in B main & lurk Tiles/B; Omen smokes Garden for Kayo & Jett to take Tree
  • Omen smokes Heaven then Paranoia Generator; Sova Recon site; Jett dashes into smoke on site with Kayo flash; Vyse will late lurk through mid and back into Tree after spike plant

B Execute (Fast with Omen Ult)

  • Omen Paranoia off barrier before ulting into Boathouse; Kayo Knife close and flashes site; Sova Recon site; Jett Updraft & Dash into site
  • Vyse will be lurking at A trying to get a pick or late lurking through Mid
  • When Omen comes out of ult in Boathouse, need to swing left side to clear Stairs

B Execute (Slow)

  • Disguise the B hit as a mid-default with Kayo Market knife and Smoke bottom Mid; Kayo & Omen can prod around Mid for a bit to create pressure; Sova will drone B main & Jett should follow so that we have B main control; Vyse lurks
  • Omen smokes Market & CT; Sova Recon close area; Kayo throws flash onto site; Jett dashes into smoke at Switch & closes door; Jett needs to go and clear Stairs while Omen & Kayo push Lane; Sova stays B main & Vyse lurks

B Split

  • Disguise the B split as our normal Mid default with Omen smoke Cubby & Kayo knife Market; Jett & Kayo creep up mid while Omen holds Cubby from Subroza; Sova & Vyse will creep up B Main
  • If there’s Vyse then Kayo & Jett need to trigger Wall together in Mid, Omen should smoke M3/Deep Mid to facilitate Market fight; Sova will Recon & Vyse should Razorvine CT to prevent swings from CT; Omen covers Kayo & Jett’s flank and plays late through mid

Fast Mid Execute

  • Omen smokes Cubby and M3/Deep Mid; Sova Recon close; Kayo, Omen & Jett push down mid fast, make sure to trigger Vyse wall together; Kayo flash into Market and triple peek; Vyse lurk through B main
  • Kayo knifes switch to cleare close site; Vyse can flash Lane, Razorvine CT and hold CT for the Market players; Jett smokes CT as we flood out of Market; Make sure we peek and clear Boathouse together; Sova will play late in Mid

A Post-Plant Setup (This Is Not Rigid)

  • Vyse will be late lurking Mid & Sova playing in A Main
  • Other 3 players should have 1 Generator & 2 Hell
  • Generator player is holding Tree while Hell players are watching for players dropping from Heaven
  • Remember to communicate & swing off each other’s contact
  • Can call for different plays if you want e.g Pop flash peek Heaven
  • NOTHING IS SET IN STONE; YOU CAN PLAY DIFFERENT POSITIONS JUST MAKE SURE YOU COMMUNICATE IT AND PLAY OFF EACH OTHER

  • Sova plays late in B main & Vyse late mid; Can swap around or have both in B main
  • 2 People play in Boathouse & 1 Person plays on top of Box
  • NOTHING IS SET IN STONE; YOU CAN PLAY DIFFERENT POSITIONS JUST MAKE SURE YOU COMMUNICATE IT AND PLAY OFF EACH OTHER

Defence

  • Key to defence is also to make the least mistakes
  • Goal is to constantly stall out pushes and ensure that we have time for players to rotate or are in position to retake
  • When and who is rotating is extremely important and fundamental to if we can win the round
  • Getting the op online is also vital to ensuring we have more flexibility

Default/Sniper (Outlaw & OP) Tree Setup

  • Omen one ways and jump peeks from Hell for A main info, throw God smoke and play around it if they push; Kayo can throw Knife A Main early or hold on to it, play in Tree to stall any Main/Cat push; Jett plays Short and peeks for mid info; Vyse walls Mid & Plays in Market off wall, support Sova on B if there’s pushes; Sova plays B and recons for info

Rotations From Default Setup (B Pressure)

  • If there is B pressure then Vyse will start leaning B to help Sova stall; Jett should be the first to rotate and should hold the wall from Spawn/Jumpeek off box in Spawn
  • Once its definitely a B hit, Sova falls back into Boathouse to anchor, Vyse plays Market; Jett should go CT with Kayo; Omen should be the last to rotate from A

Rotations From Default Setup (A Pressure)

  • Omen should throw A Main smoke first when there is pressure before throwing God Smoke to play around; Paranoia to stall push and try to get a pick, can also tp onto Heaven and play retake; Kayo should be disrupting push in Tree and waiting for retake; Jett goes Heaven for retake; Vyse rotates through Mid to clear for any lurkers; Sova goes Heaven to retake with Jett
  • If it’s a A-Split then Kayo should give up Tree and play inside of Garden

Alternative/Sniper (Outlaw & OP) B Setup

  • Vyse & Jett swap positions essentially; Vyse should have thorns to stall in Main & Tree while floating in CT (Hold Tree with Kayo or hold Wall in Mid); Omen & Kayo have the same job; Jett will start with holding B Main before Sova Drones and help post OP on deeper angle
  • After OP is posted, Sova can leave Jett and play in Market, Vyse can lean Tree more
  • Jett shouldn’t leave angle unless forced off or they are confirmed hitting elsewhere

OP Mid Setup

  • Omen & Kayo have the same job on A; Jett OPs Bottom Mid and can hold Top Cat or B Tiles; Vyse sets up heavy on B with Sova
  • If Jett rotates/is forced off OP angle, always be aware of mid-lurk possibility
  • Jett should stay on angles for as long as possible

B Tiles Crunch

  • Run play off barrier
  • Kayo flashes Tiles & Jett updrafts + dashes; Omen Paranoia B Main with Sova Recon into B Lobby before pushing
  • Kayo can Knife Top Cat or just manually hold in case A players come to support
  • Players should commit to the push and try to get as many kills as possible since we will usually run this on ecos/half-buys
  • Vyse can decide how they wanna set up but should primarily focus on A main

A Retake

  • Three people retake from Heaven & Kayo retake from Tree; Kayo flash through Door, Sova Recon Site, Jett cloudburst and drop into site to distract enemies; Make sure to coordinate and time everything together; Assume Omen is dead; Be aware of potential late lurks though Vyse should’ve cleared mid
  • Ult Variation: Can use Vyse and/or Kayo ult for the retake

B Retake

  • Kayo knifes B Main for info; Omen flashes Logs & Market area; Jett dashes to switch (Omen can tp instead if Jett is dead); Assume Sova is dead
  • If enemy is scanned B Main then clear them out, if there’s no time though Vyse hold B main and other 3 retake; 2 can path through Lane & 2 through Stairs; Use Kayo & Vyse flash to get in; Don’t Smoke Boathouse
  • Be coordinated and not too robotic e.g Paranoia even if we know close area is all clear
