Teacher: Prepare the students for a game. The purpose of the game is for students to identify the difference between Gratitude and Curiosity. Explain the following scenarios to the students and ask them to choose which strength is use A=Gratitude and Curiosity=B

Asking a friend: Where did you get the toy?
Saying “Thank you” when someone helps you tie your shoes
Asking to learn how to make a fast Lego car
Helping to hand out spoons and napkins for dinner

Note: Due to the students age, developmental appropriateness, and students being new to the elementary school setting, we recommend starting out with only the fall or 2 - 3 character strengths to choose from. As the year progresses add on more character strengths. The goal is to develop the daily habit of intention setting. Student initiated intention setting helps develop self agency, a sense of control, and acting with purpose.

Make Your Move is an opportunity for teachers to use consistent verbiage across grade levels and content areas. This provides students a chance to set their intention for the day or the activity. It also allows students, regardless of previous knowledge, to understand teacher communication and expectation (5 minutes or less - can be beginning or end of school day, or end of morning meeting.)
