What is the Grade 6 Renaissance Rover Centre??

What is a RENAISSANCE?

7 of 49

The word Renaissance means “a rebirth” or a “change”.

The first Renaissance happened several hundred years ago in Florence, Italy. The world had been through a plague and people were also experiencing what we call “The Dark Ages” because new learning had disappeared.

8 of 49

Then, around the 16th century, there was a family in Florence, called the Medici Family, who was extremely wealthy. They decided that they would use their money to make the world a better place for everyone.

So, they helped every young leader at that time. They supported artists, poets, musicians, sculptors, writers, philosophers...anyone who could bring back learning...

9 of 49

The world came alive again and among the young leaders were Michelangelo, Raphael, Machiavelli, Leonardo DaVinci. They became the LEGENDS of their time...the legends of the past. These legends were ordinary human beings who make extraordinary contributions to the world.

10 of 49

Our Middle School is undergoing a change also...a change that you will lead. You are a special group because we are in the beginning of this change. Together, you will be the leaders of this change. We have awesome programs for you...programs that will develop skills in you to help to become one of the legends of the future…. A great challenge for you...and for us...
