    • The charge of the committee includes coordinating the postbac program (including reviewing applications), coordinating mentoring, reviewing/revising the code of conduct, and conducting the merit review of the Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (EDI) for the institute.

Mentoring Program

  • The A3D3 Equity & Career Committee is launching a mentoring program
  • Pairs interested students/postbacs/postdocs with postdocs/faculty members within the institute
  • Designed to encourage and support younger scientists through a mentoring relationship that begins in October and continues through July
  • Each mentoring relationship is developed through one-on-one meetings that each pair plans

  • 4 postbac fellows chosen

    • Van Tha Bik Lian @ Duke (PI: Scholberg, HEP/MMA): Started July 27

  • Resolved some hiring issues in our first year (e.g. working with HR to create postbac staff positions at different institutions, ensuring salary is sufficient, housing considerations, etc.)
    • Institutes interested in recruiting a postbac should discuss with HR how to hire one ASAP
