Steps to Creating a Template or

Locked Background

A Single Image that doesn’t require editing:

  • On your blank slide, click on Background

  • Click on Choose Image

  • Click where your image is and apply

A Background image must be created

  • Click on Slide & Click on Edit Theme

  • Under Layouts, delete all but

the first slide.

  • Design your own

background on

  • Give it a name to

Time for you to try…

  • In the Clipart Slides, choose a character and a balloon and copy and paste each of them on the last blank slide.
  • Resize them and place them where you would like them.
  • Use the line tool to draw the balloon strings
  • Group together the person, balloon & strings by doing the following:
    • Edit
    • Select All
    • Arrange
    • Group
  • Copy the Grouped graphic and then open the Macy’s Background Template & Paste your image there.

Key shortcuts to help you

On the Macy’s template:

  • Start with your image on the far left, barely on the slide.
  • Use the key combination Ctrl + D to duplicate the slide.
  • Use the key shortcuts to move the image a little bit to the right.
  • If you want to move the balloon, you will want to ungroup the parts of the image and then after you move it, you will want to group them again.
  • Repeat this process until the balloon is off the screen.
