The Grade 1 to 9 program at Ignite Centre for eLearning is well prepared to meet the needs of a variety of students, including students who:

  • for whatever reason, cannot attend a physical building
  • have parent/caregiver support in the home
  • have physical or mental health challenges
  • need a flexible schedule due to sports, travel, etc.
  • feel that they learn best through online learning
  • want to feel a sense of connection to a learning community.

  • Scheduled, synchronous instruction from experienced online teachers balanced with offline asynchronous learning.
  • High quality online resources
  • Individual and class field trips, land-based learning opportunities
  • Highly relational and engaging.

Last Month we went over the Wellness Wheel. Here are examples of domains of wellness:

Physical

  • Physical movement, ie walking, sports, weight lifting, stretching
  • Healthy eating habits
  • Sleep habits 8+ hours

Emotional

  • Checking in with your feelings.
  • Practicing self compassion and positive self talk.
  • Using good coping skills to manage feelings like healthy distraction and self care

Mental

  • Reading
  • Creative outlets, art, video games, board games
  • Learning a second language
  • Playing an instrument
  • Staying on top of school work

Social

  • Spending time connecting with friends and family.
  • Being a good friend, ie keeping secrets, being there for one another

Spiritual

  • Dedicating time to feel connected to a higher power or the world
  • It doesn’t have to be religious, it can also come from connecting with your life purpose at this time
