Accessing Google Meet Via Classroom (K-5)
Access the Meet link for you directly from the Google Classroom header.

The Google Meet link for each class will be located on that class’ Home Page in Canvas
Google Meet Security Features
Don’t panic if you see either of these screens. They just mean that your teacher has not begun the Meet session yet. Try again in a few minutes!

Initially Joining a Meet
Click “Join Now” to start the Meet.
Choose to mute your audio, turn off your camera, and/or blur your background before joining.

Initially Joining a Meet: Permissions
You will be asked for permission for Meet to access your microphone and camera and for Meet to show notifications.
Click ALLOW for BOTH of these pop-ups and then DISMISS.

Basic Google Meet Options

Accessing the Chat
This is in the upper, right part of the screen.

NOTE:
Participants will not be able to see any chat messages that were posted before they joined. Also, chat messages are NOT saved once a Meet ends.
Teachers may disable chat permissions for students.
Hand Raising Capabilities
Participants can raise or lower their hand from the lower right corner of the screen.

Changing Meet Layout Options
Access the settings by clicking in the lower right corner of the screen
If you experience lag while on Google Meet, use the Spotlight layout, NOT the tiled view. This will automatically highlight the current speaker.

Sharing Your Entire Screen
This is in the bottom right corner of your Meet screen.

Click the thumbnail of your screen. Then click Share.

PRO TIP:
While sharing your entire screen, your participants will see whatever you are seeing!
Sharing A Window
This is in the bottom right corner of your Meet screen.

Choose the window you wish to project. Then click Share.
Ending Sharing A Screen or Window
This will appear at the bottom of your screen when sharing.
This will appear on the open Google Meet tab.
You can hide this pop-up window if it is in your way.
Sharing A Chrome Tab
This is in the bottom right corner of your Meet screen.

Choose the specific tab you wish to project. Then click Share.
PRO TIP:
This is the only option that allows you to share AUDIO!
If you wish to share audio, be sure to check this box!
Ending Sharing A Chrome Tab
This will appear at the top of the tab being presented.
