Texas has the highest food insecurity rate in the nation, 5.3 million Texans.
1 in 6 households in Texas are considered food insecure.
1 in 5 Texas children experience hunger.
Effecting them academically & developmentally.
Rural Texans are at greater risk of food insecurity.

Have forms on hand at event to track hours.
Invite press to event(s).
Take plenty of photos to use on social media and your club newsletter. Tag folks & use #’s, ex. #TFRWleads
Encourage participation of all members & community. These projects are a great way to get new members.
Food Insecurity CFA Project Ideas:
Volunteer at local food banks/soup kitchen. Sponsor a food drive at your club meeting(s). Deliver a meal/snacks to your local VFW.
Host a fundraiser to benefit your local food bank.
Have your a rep. from your area food bank as a speaker. Volunteer/donate with Meals on Wheels in your area.
Share stats & raise awareness.

Other Caring for America Ideas:
Deliver a meal/snacks to your local fire/police station.
Volunteer with area foster programs. Host a supply drive for homeless shelter.
Tutor/mentor underprivileged children/adults. “Adopt” teachers at a resource limited school. Volunteer at nursing home/senior citizen centers. Donate snacks to local USO Center w/notes for troops. Particiapte in Wreaths Across America.
