Before we start.

�You’re about to carry out some maintenance on your Cowboy bike. Before going further, we advise you to do the following steps:

Some parts may be dirty and greasy, it is recommended to protect your floor and your clothes.

If you have a bike stand, we advise you to use it. If that’s not the case, you can put your bike against a wall or solid furniture.

Steps to follow.

Do not try to drill it out in the middle!

Try to hammer the Allen key in first and turn it to loosen the thru axle.

If that doesn’t work try the following steps :

  1. Drill two 4mm deep holes on the left and right side of the �opening with a “4.5mm Cobalt drill bit” (Link to purchase the tool)
  2. Take a 3.2mm hardened steel centre punch and place it in the opening of one of the holes (Link to purchase the tool)
  3. Hammer anti clockwise to loosen the Thru axle..
  4. Replace the Thru axle and tighten to 10Nm.

Alternative Methods

  • Use a brand new 8mm allen key or hex wrench to really bite into the screw and then remove it.�
  • Hammer in a size T50 Torx head and then use a ratchet to remove it.�
  • Drill out the thru axle with a size 8mm cobalt drill bit, then use a large extractor and an adjustable wrench to remove it.
