We are excited to announce that the Year 2 classes will be moving into our new buildings within the next few weeks. We would like to invite the parents of Room 8, 9, 10 and 11 on 22 May at 2.30pm. We will meet in the Room 8 (new class next to Room 4). This will be a good time to ask any questions about the classrooms.

Your child’s class can be found in the following areas:

- current room

Room 8 & Room 9

- new class next to Room 4

Room 10 & Room 11

Learning focus: This term we are learning about...

‘Marine Life and Conservation’ over the next two terms. We would like to start the term off by going for a beach walk at Eastern Beach and then to explore what lives in the NZ seas and Pacific ocean by visiting Kelly Tarlton’s Aquarium. We are also very excited to visit Te Tuhi Art Gallery where we will learn to draw structures and habitats of marine animals.

3 Way Conferences: Students reports will be printed and sent home on the 24 June this term. Parents will be notified to book a 3 Way Conference with the teacher for 26 or 27 June. This will be the time where the teacher will discuss with the parents/caregivers the student’s learning and progress and where to next.

Reminders:

Activity Payment:

  • The activity payment is set at $100 for the year. This activity payment covers the cost of classroom resources, class trips, groups visiting the school and sports activities throughout the year.
  • Please feel free to contact the office for easy payment options. You can set up automatic payments so the cost of the donation and activity payment is evenly spread over the year. See the office personnel for the school bank account number.

Autumn & Winter:

As the weather is getting colder and the sun less strong, hats are now optional for T2 and T3. We will still remind the students to wear hats for any upcoming outdoor trips if necessary.

Bible Classes

There will be no bible classes this year for the Junior school.

Healthy & Nude Lunches:

Please ensure your child has a healthy, nutritious lunch packed each day. It is great to see more lunchboxes without wrappings. A bottle of water is also recommended (Juice or flavoured milk is not suggested). Students can also order their lunch from the lunchroom before 8.55 am each morning or you can order online through our school website.

Uniforms:

Please continue to ensure that your child is in the correct school uniform and that all items of clothing are clearly named. A note must be sent with your child if they are wearing non-uniform items of clothing.

Bookbags and Punctuality:

We ask for your continued support in ensuring that your child has brought their book-bag with homework book and reader to school each day.

It helps the children prepare for the day if they are in school before the 8.55am bell, being at school by 8.45am gives them enough time to get organised. If they arrive after the bell at 8.55am they will need to go to the office to report in.

Keeping in contact and up to date:

There are many ways to do this -

  • Always check your child’s bag and book bag for notices
  • Read the school Facebook Page
  • Add the new school’s App by downloading ‘SchoolAppsNZ’
  • The school newsletter which will be sent out once a term and is displayed on the class window/wall and can be accessed through the school website, and the Facebook page. We do not send home paper copies of the newsletter.
  • Please update any new emergency contact details, emails and cell phone numbers.
