  • Student eligibility for the program based on the following criteria:
    • Lexile levels
    • Grades
    • NLSLA scores (if available)
    • Teacher/counselor recommendation
  • Program is fluid
    • Students doing well can exit, new students in need of help can enroll

Title I

Program DWS & TRS

  • Students receive additional support interventions in Reading and Math at DWS by Academic Support Teachers
  • Students in need of these services will receive social-emotional support at TRS by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a behaviorist.

Program WHS

  • Students at risk of not graduating or not staying on grade level can participate in online courses or one-on-one tutoring for credit recovery or to stay on track.
  • Students at-risk will also work with a counselor from Effective School Solutions

How to help at home

  • Read with your child each night.
  • Make sure your child reads each night.
  • Check Weehawken website and teacher sites for more information.

Compact

The student agrees to:

  • be prepared for class each school day unless ill.
  • exhibit a positive attitude about learning .
  • complete all class work assigned.
  • make a genuine attempt to master the skills being taught.

The parent agrees to:

  • ensure my child attends school daily unless ill.
  • ensure my child participates in the appropriate school program when the need arises. (extra help sessions, remedial classes, etc.).
  • attend parent-teacher conferences and other school functions in order to keep abreast of my child’s academic progress.
  • receive my child’s test scores and homework.
  • communicate the learning needs of my child to school personnel.

We, the school and its staff members, agree to:

  • maintain an effective school climate and classroom environment.
  • encourage parent participation in school activities.
  • assist students to meet the state and local district standards.
  • keep parents informed of their child’s academic progress.
  • provide opportunities for ongoing communication between you and teachers throughout the year.
