  • Climate and Culture
    • Welcome our new staff and introduce them to the already strong culture and the traditions we have built as a staff and community.
  • Building Targeted Support for All Learners

Where we SOARed.

Student achievement

  • Student achievement: Last years data that we have evaluated so far continues to show steady achievement.
    • Our K-3 students showed great growth in foundational reading skills on the Dibels 8 Reading benchmarks.
    • 80% of our students score average or above on MAP Math and 75% scored average or above in MAP reading.
      • If you are interested, a more detailed presentation of our data will given at an upcoming board meeting.

Students character

  • Almost all redirections/disciplinary conversations led to a positive change in student behavior.
    • Students are learning from their mistakes
    • Students took great pride in our building and being Eagles by living up to our SOAR traits and also completing many acts of service.

Kept Traditions Alive

  • Honored what made CCC great before becoming JA CCC.

Enrollment

  • We grew our enrollment 24%,
    • Continued to welcome students all year where other schools close enrollment after October count.

Room to Grow

Have a better system to communicate student progress and work completion.

In person SpEd and intervention services.

MAP Student growth

  • New Math Curriculum
  • Infusing CK science and social studies into Super Monday so we can develop a deeper knowledge of the content.

Better parking lot procedures to keep students safe.

Speaking of the Parking Lot..

  • Use the parking lot for parking only.
    • Do not block the parking spaces.
  • Please do not get out of your car in the drive through lane.
    • If you want to meet your child at the bottom of the stairs please park.
  • Pull all the way forward in the drive through lane.
  • Follow the lead of volunteers and staff who are helping students cross traffic safely.
  • Stay off phones and pay close attention.
  • Be patient

Attendance

2024-25 Student Attendance (%)

Consistent attendance is not just about being present—it’s a strong predictor of academic success, including higher mastery of content, better outcomes, and a greater likelihood of graduating.

Mental well-being is closely tied to attendance and engagement. Students who feel connected and supported by their school are not only less stressed—they’re also more likely to attend punctually and perform well academically.

14 of 24

Attendance Process

If your child is going to be absent please do one of two things.

  1. Call 720-719-3003 and press “1” for attendance. (leave your name, your child’s name, teacher/grade and reason for the absence)

OR

  • Log into campus and submit the absence online.

We want to make sure that if students aren’t with us, they are with you!

If you would like absent work collected for for same day pick up please let us know when you leave a message on the attendance line or let your child’s teacher know. Otherwise it will be gathered in class and given to your child when they return.

If you need to get a message to your child about someone picking them up after school please call the office. Teachers sometimes don’t check email until after school and could miss your message.

Please do not not send your child to school sick.

  • Fever free without meds for 24 hours.
  • Vomiting and diarrhea free for 24 hours

Kids are truth tellers when they don’t feel well.

Make-up and Late Work Policies

Make-up work

Per District policy JH (linked HERE), make-up work will be provided for any class in which a student has an absence. It is the student's responsibility to pick up any make-up assignments on the day he or she returns to class.  There will be two days allowed for make-up work for each day of excused absence.  Make-up work will be allowed following an unexcused absence with the goal of providing the student an opportunity to keep up with the class and as an incentive to attend school.

At JA Elementary, parents may request work during an absence; work may be sent home with a sibling/friend, or parents may pick up work in the office at the end of the day.  (Please call by 9:00 a.m.)  For a known or pre-arranged absence (ex:  vacation), students will receive make-up work when they return. It is our policy to not provide work to students prior to a pre-arranged absence.

Teachers may make accommodations to this policy on a case-by-case basis.  Classwork not turned in after the appropriate number of days will be considered late or missing and will be addressed according to the late/missing work policy.

Elementary late/missing work policy

Late Work: When a due date has passed, credit for classwork, projects or homework will be reduced by 10% the first day; then, an additional 10% for each subsequent day. After the calculated number of days to turn in the work has passed students will receive no credit for the assignment if it is still missing.

Middle School late/missing work policy

Responsibility and learning good habits is an important part of the learning process. It aligns with our mission/vision and our SOAR trait of ownership. Please partner with use in helping grow these important skills in our Eagles.

Late Work: When a due date has passed, credit for classwork, projects or homework will be reduced by 25% the first day; then, an additional 25% for each subsequent day. After the calculated number of days to turn in the work has passed students will receive no credit for the assignment if it is still missing.

Homework Policy

We are a school that believes homework is important. Most homework will be pre-teach lessons or reinforcement of foundational skills and will look different at each grade level.

These are general guidelines of time spent per evening on homework, it is approximately 10 minutes per grade level.

  • Kindergarten: 0-10 minutes
  • First Grade:10-20 minutes
  • Second Grade:20-30 minutes
  • Third Grade: 30-40 minutes
  • Fourth Grade: 40-50 minutes
  • Fifth Grade:50-60 minutes
  • Sixth Grade: Not more than 60 minutes
  • Seventh Grade: 70-80 minutes
  • Eighth Grade: 80-90 minutes

Students may also have classwork to complete at home if they did not make good use of class time. Periodically projects or targeted practice may be assigned that will add additional time.

Response to parent survey and conversations.

  • We will require all parents/visitors to check in using the Raptor System and wear a nametag.
    • We know you but the kids don’t always know the adults. If you are wearing a nametag they know you are a safe adult who checked in at the office
    • Make sure you bring an ID with you
    • Mrs. Daniels will be in the office tonight to help anyone who wants to get their initial sign in done.
      • It will save time in the future!!!
  • Hiring in person instructional support for our students.

The Weather Outside is Frightful

Snow Days

  • We follow Jeffco’s lead for snow days
    • We don’t want to have to add days to the end of the school year by overusing our days. We don’t want to sacrifice valuable instruction time with our students.
    • Prevents confusion and helps with communication.

Late Starts

  • We follow Jeffco’s lead for late starts
    • If a late start is called school starts at 10:30

You will get a phone call from Jeffco if there is a snow day or late start. It will be posted on the JA CCC website as well as our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram.

We may make mistakes with a calling or not calling of a snow day/late start this year as Colorado weather is a moving target. Please remember we are always doing the best we can. If you feel it is unsafe to get your child to school due to road conditions please keep them home. It will always be an excused absence.

Inside vs. outside

  • We want students to be outside as much as possible even if it is just for a few minutes.
    • We keep an eye on wind chill and temps throughout the day to make sure we are making good decisions about whether kids should be outside.
    • Make sure students have clothes to bundle up in every day
      • It is good for their mental health and focus to get even just a few minutes of fresh air
