Earth

Earth has four layers that I’m going to teach you about.

5 of 22

First of all, if you cut the world in half you would see these four layers like this.

The first layer is the crust. As you can see

it is the thinnest layer.

It is 30 km thick. Also the crust is not one whole, unbroken layer. It has cracks all over it like a boiled egg.

Now the second layer is the thickest layer. It is called the mantle.

The next layer is the outer core. This is where it gets really hot. It is as hot as the surface as the sun and all of it is melted and it swirls around a lot because of all the heat moving through it like a current in water.

Now last but not least, the inner core. Now the weird part about this is it’s solid even though it’s super hot. It can’t be a liquid because there is too much weight pressing down on it.

Now let’s put the Earth back together.

Now that was some facts about the Earth’s four layers. So, the Earth is not all solid and the names of its layers are the crust, mantle, outer core and inner core.
