  • Clip chart is hanging back by the backpacks
  • After 2 warnings or reminders they will get a clip down.
  • 1 clip down is 1 min. of recess
  • 2 clip downs is 2 min. of recess
  • 3 clip downs is 2 min. of recess and we talk to their parents
  • Can clip up for good behavior-try to have 2 kids clip up for everyone that clips down

Reading Groups Rules

  1. Stay in your assigned area
  2. Use whisper voices to talk to friends in your group
  3. Start with just 2 groups- 1 with teacher monitoring, 1 with aide monitoring

  • When time is up (10 minutes) ring the apple bell (it should be on the cart in the front)

  • Students clean up their materials and stand behind the chair they were sitting on, or if at the rug stand on a square.

  • When students are quiet-say WALKING NO TALKING and students will switch groups

  • Wait for your name to be called to line up
  • Arms folded or hidden in pockets- NO TOUCHING FRIENDS BY YOU
  • Voices are off
  • 2 feet on red line
  • Eyes forward so you know when the line is moving and stopping

  • Always go down the slides
  • No play fighting or tag
  • Ask others to play with you
  • Don’t go in or pick up/throw wood chips
  • When whistle or bell goes off- stop playing and line up on the dots
  • No fighting over dots

  • Get a drink from water bottle
  • Walk to spot on the rug

Quiet game:

· Pick one student to start- they stand in front of the class

· They look for 1 student who is being so quiet sitting on the rug

· They point to 1 student who then comes up to the front of the class- the first student goes and sits down trying to get picked again

  • Put up the next number on the calendar
  • Have students repeat:

Choose 1 student from each table to get their handwriting journals from the back and take to table

Handwriting- 10:25-10:35

  • Use the document camera to show the handwriting book on the screen.
  • Show the page for the day.
  • Model to students how to follow the lines….only do 3 examples. Then have students go to their seats and do the same 3 lines you did. They must stop and wait.
  • When class is ready model a couple more.
  • Then let them do the ones you showed.

  • Use the handwriting book.
  • Complete 1 page per day
  • Walk around with a eraser
  • If students try to go fast, erase their lines and make them do it again
  • The goal is to go slow and trace the lines perfectly with perfect pencil grip
  • This is not a race- they need to get it right

  • If they brought a home lunch, have 5th grader help walk student to the class to get their lunchbox from the basket- then come back in and find seat
  • The buddy will help walk them through the line and make a choice
  • How to pick a milk and fruits/vegetables
  • Then to find their assigned seat
