  • Newspaper owners, publishers, chief editor, and radio station owner-host
  • Positive relationship with local media as a teacher and championship-winning debate coach

Share - Send forth your information in emails to the press, hardcopy snail mail, greeting cards, Facebook, website, postcards, business cards, at all public events you attend wearing your local RSP’s name tag. At events before the moderator/presiding officer/MC begins, I distribute literature, cards, and flyers on tables or chairs. Smile and make eye contact! You can always pick up leftovers after people leave to reuse at the next event!

Build Your Own Facebook Account

Like many educators, I was TERRIFIED of Facebook because of its propinquity, but as NCRSP’s 2024 Leadership Series Seven Touches of Membership teaches us, social media is ESSENTIAL as an outreach. Ordinary people use Facebook to research organizations to see standings in the worldwide universe of groups that matter or groups that are obsolete.

Design your iconography to honor ALL your loyal members.

#1 Original group photograph. #2 Use Photoshop to remove distortion that spreads out sizes of people on the ends of the photo.

#4 Make a 3D image of each person with Paint 3D

#3 Add people who missed the group photo because they arrived late or had to leave early:

#5 Assemble all of the pieces on PowerPoint to arrange figures and insert background and logo. Use PowerPoint tools to sharpen resolutions and change lighting.

Let your passion fuel your proclamations of achievement, your creativity shape your RSP’s image to the world, and your dedication to improve and learn propel your success.

Push away fear of failure and embrace trial-and-error. If something blows up, be unafraid to start all over again. Together we are strong! YOU WILL SUCCEED!

It’s so sweet to make something you never thought possible and what everyone said was impossible!

Julia Thorn IS A LATE BLOOMER who learned many of her digital skills AFTER age 70.

Why? Because most of the techniques and apps were NOT yet invented!
