Overview

• The Working Group’s (https://samvera.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/samvera/pages/2129100805/OAI+Documentation+Working+Group) goal is to provide shared guidance in terms of configuring and using Open Archives Initiative - Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH, https://www.openarchives.org/pmh/) in Samvera platforms.
• Documentation covers Hyrax and Hyku. Currently, there is no OAI support in Avalon.
• Examples include endpoints and related documentation from other Samvera participants.

• Configure and/or locate endpoint
• Understand metadata prefix options
• Explain standard error message on OAI page
• How to create a thumbnail link in OAI feed for (DPLA) harvesting
• Review of syntax for OAI searches
• Highlight use cases for using OAI with a Samvera repository

The documentation has been added to the Samvera wiki and can be updated over time as new insights become available.

Fellow Samverans should feel comfortable sharing their OAI endpoint, examples, related documentation, and guidance with specific aggregators (e.g. DPLA hubs, discovery layer) on the wiki page. It will need to be updated as codebase changes.
