You have chosen home learning 1 for your period of self-isolation.
Please complete 3 pieces of work each day. 5 days worth of work for English, Maths and Topic can be found on the following slides.
Remember, if you get confused, send me an email and I will respond as quickly as possible (or get someone you live with to send me a message on Class Dojo).
Complete your work in your Home Learning Workbooks. Make sure that you complete each subject in the correct book to save confusion.
English
Lesson 1
The Tsunami
Imagine you are sat in one of the cars you can see in the image. Write down as many adjectives as you can to describe how you feel and what you can see and hear.
Lesson 2
Use your list of adjectives from yesterday's lesson to write sentences to explain what is happening.
E.G. The terrifying waves made a magnificent wall, as we trembled in our cars.
Lesson 3
Use the internet to watch a Newsround report. Type into Google - Floods: “I was completely cut off” or follow the link below.
Imagine you are a news reporter in one of the cars, write down some ideas of what you might say to viewers at home.
Lesson 4
You have been asked to report on the tsunami. You are sat in one of the cars and reporting live!
Use all you have done so far this week and the following slide to write a report script.
Lesson 5:
Act out and record (if possible) your news report! Use your script and the tips on the following slide. Then ask someone in your house to record as you report live on the tsunami! Please share your report with me via Class Dojo.

Lesson 1
HOLD ON TIGHT!!
Take a look at some of the rides in Oakwood Park using their website - https://www.oakwoodthemepark.co.uk/
Can you find rides that swing, spin, roll and loop?
Investigate and take screenshots of the rides’ mechanisms. How do the different rides work and what forces are at play? Explain how the rides might affect your bodies, describing the impacts of different forces.
Watch the following videos to get a feel for the rides:

Lesson 2
Study a range of online theme park maps and
plans to see how they are laid out. Look out for common rides and amenities.
Create a map of Oakwood Park using images sourced from the internet, clip art, symbols, icon and text.
Use a key to identify features, such as toilets, public telephones, cafes and lost child meeting points.
Note: You could draw this or use presentation software to create your map. Can you mark the best route to take in the park to ensure you go on every ride?
Lesson 3 - Outdoor Task
Witness the wonders of the centripetal force. Fill a quarter of a bucket with water and swing it quickly in a vertical circular motion. Slow down until the water just stays in the bucket. Slow down the swinging further. Describe what happened to the water at each stage. Look at pictures or video footage of theme park rides with vertical loops and describe what is happening in terms of forces. Explain why it’s important that roller coasters are going fast when they loop the loop.
Note: A centripetal force allows an object to follow a curved path. In this case, the water accelerates faster than the pull of gravity and so stays in the bucket, even when it’s upside down. When the children slow their spinning so the water only just stays in the bucket, the centripetal force and gravitational pull are equal. When they slow down again, the centripetal force will be weaker than the pull of gravity and the water will fall from the bucket.
Lesson 4 & 5
Watch a range of online video clips of roller coaster rides to gain the perspective of the rider. Describe how you think the rider feels as he or she is on the ride. Include what kind of things they might be saying and thinking. Generate speech and thought bubbles for different videos. Build up a class bank of words and phrases using Jamboard.
