Citizenship

  • You must be a creditable citizen. Creditable citizens are those students whose conduct-both in school and out of school-will not reflect discredit upon themselves or their school.
  • NOTE: Conduct involving law enforcement must be reported to your principal or athletic director immediately as your conduct may affect eligibility or contest outcomes.

Athlete’s Physicals

  • No athlete participation until completed physical with� insurance and signatures is turned into the coach.
  • Must have: physical form, insurance name, policy� number, parent signature, and athlete signature
    • Physicals after Feb. 1, 2019 are good for 2 years
  • The annual requirements page must be filled out for all athletes.

Scheduling

  • Schedules may change due to unforeseen conflicts, weather etc.
  • Updates will be changed on school calendar, MSHSAA website, twitter, and facebook

Practice Days

  • 14 days needed to be able to participate in first contest
    • Being in attendance at practice does NOT count, must be able to actively participate
    • No outside visitors will be allowed at practices at this time to help ensure the safety of our coaches and athletes.

Playing Time

The amount of playing time, the position the athlete/participant plays, and the level they play (varsity, JV, freshmen) is the sole decision of the coach or coaches.

At the varsity level in particular, the emphasis will be on developing the most competitive team possible given the talent of the athletes. Younger students (Freshman and Sophomores) may play over or more than older students. There is no guarantee of playing time at any level (JH or HS).

School Attendance

  • Game day: Athlete must be in attendance the full day to participate in contest
    • unless prior approval from administration
  • Practice day: Athlete must be in attendance the last half of the day to participate in practice.
  • Weekend contest: Athlete must be in attendance all day on Friday to participate

Bus

  • All players and managers are required to ride the bus to the game
  • After a contest a player may be signed out�only by a parent or legal guardian unless prior approval from building administration .
    • May not sign themselves out if they are 18

After school

  • Once school is out, athletes must have arranged supervision after school.
  • If staying on school grounds, the coach must be the supervisor.

Bullying and Hazing

The Iron County C-4 School District takes all forms of hazing, bullying (including cyberbullying), and harassment very seriously.

Parent’s Role

  • Be a fan of everyone on the team
  • Respect the decision of the officials (even when you think it is wrong!)
  • Respect other fans, coaches, and athletes
  • Talk to your athlete if they have any questions and, if they still have questions, contact the coach through the athletic department procedures.
  • Don’t put your child in the middle by speaking badly about the coach/sponsor, program, or teammates
  • Don’t talk to coaches on game day about a complaint (before or after a game).
  • We ask you be supportive of coach, all athletes, and game personnel.

Parent Conferences

If you feel the need to have a conference with the coach about your athlete:

  • Please do not have conference immediately after a contest.
  • Call the school to set up a conference.
  • AD and Administration can be asked to sit in on conference.

Injuries

  • If your athlete is injured and is seen by an ER or doctor, they must have medical release in order to participate in practice or contests
    • Athlete is NOT allowed to physically participate in any aspect of any activities until coach has release note from a physician and is turned into the A.D. or Building Administration.

Covid Practice Guidelines

  • Athletes should bring their own water bottles.
  • Masks should be worn when they can.
  • No group water breaks.
  • Athletes should be picked up promptly at the end of practice.
