Kuna AFJROTC Future Expansion

  • Bottom Line: Approval to explore/build Kuna AF JROTC Training facility behind current baseball complex.

  • Why: AF JROTC currently shares training space with Kuna sports programs. Although AF JROTC experiences great support and cooperation from school leadership there are always competing priorities for space which creates pressure on leadership to ensure all needs are met. A separate facility dedicated to our program will alleviate that pressure. Additionally, it will allow us to fully execute all aspects of our program without disrupting other school activities.

      • Drill
      • Color Guard
      • Marksmanship
      • Physical Training
      • Clubs: Rocket, Drones, Raiders, Robotics, Flight Simulator, etc.

  • How: Board approve use of land, AF JROTC will work to raise the necessary capital for building.

OPTIONS:

  • Option 1: Construct building specifically for training and maintain current AF JROTC classroom/office spaces.
    • Advantage: Lower cost
      • Dimensions 86’ W x 110’ L x 18’ H = Estimated Cost: $142k building, $450k total
    • Disadvantage: AF JROTC will need to move between facilities.
  • Option 2: Construct larger building in order to accommodate all AF JROTC activities.
    • Advantage: All activates in one facility, opens additional classroom space for Kuna High School
    • Disadvantage: Higher cost
      • Dimensions 90’W x 140’L x 18’ H = Estimated Cost: $200K building, $550K
