T: Today we are going to practice shooting B-Roll. Using your Establishing and Connecting Shot information you wrote last session you will take your film kit as a team and get some B-Roll Footage. Let’s review the guidelines for what you do with your footage when done - we will come back to the Media Releases Information when we learn about interviewing.

T: Okay go to a couple of areas and film. Ensure you follow the film kit practice guidelines, including keeping the camera steady and the mic pointed in the right place if you are capturing sounds too. You can always delete if the footage is not good. This is practice. You must be back by ______________ (give a time).

T: Now that you are back, note the upload instructions on the slide. Please upload the footage to the flash drive in your kit and label as it is shown above [If this is the last day of the week, they can also practice downloading on to one team member’s ChromeBook - this lead should be chosen carefully]

Trust Walk

Objective - build trust and enhance communication skills
Separate into pairs and blindfold one person. The other will act as a guide.

Guide - verbally guide your blindfolded partner through the obstacle course. You cannot touch your partner but you must use clear and precise instructions.

Partner - rely entirely on the guide’s instructions to navigate the course safely.

T: We will now turn our attention to building trust within your production teams and our class as a whole. The purpose of this trust walk is to build trust and enhance our communication skills.

[Use the materials listed on the first slide to set up an obstacle course in a large open space. Ensure the course is safe but challenging enough to require careful navigation. Divide students into pairs. One person in each pair will be blindfolded while the other will act as the guide.]

T: The guide’s role is to verbally guide their blindfolded partner through the obstacle course. You cannot touch your partner but must use clear and precise instructions. The blindfolded partner must rely entirely on the guide’s instructions to navigate the course safely.
