MANGALYAM - RELAUNCH CAMPAIGN

A story that explored one of the closest themes to the Indian heart – the sanctity & power of Marriage

2 of 21

THE PREMISE

Mangalayam wasn’t just another fiction relaunch.

The launch itself was born as an ambitious spin-off that merged two successful television worlds Sachi (Hero) from Mizhi Randilum and Archana (Heroine) from Shyamambaram, bringing together the hero from one story and the heroine from another. The base of the story lay in two hearts that connected through marriage but not initially through emotions.

The launch itself was an experiment.

The relaunch had to prove it could become something even bigger.

Our challenge wasn’t to restart a show.

It was to evolve an emotional universe viewers had already invested in.

CHARACTER ARCS

SACHI

Launch – A man deeply in love with Lakshmi, now forced to marry Archana, due to marital pressure from family

Relaunch – Archana’s dedicated husband, very much in love with her. Post the time leap, he is separated from Archana and cannot find where his wife is.

ARCHANA

Launch – A girl whose hopes of a perfect husband are shattered when she finds out after marriage about Sachi’s feelings and heartbreak

Relaunch – A dedicated wife who has proven that marriages can be successful when love grows into them. Post the time leap, she has lost her memory and does not recall her past due to an accident

AVANTIKA

Launch – The villathi of the show, out to destroy the happiness and peace of Archana’s & Sachi’s family

Relaunch – Still holding the same grudges with a twist, she is now a mother forcing her to confront her own vulnerable sides

THE TIME LEAP

A Time Leap Had To Mean Something

After hundreds of episodes, a routine time leap would have felt cosmetic.

Instead, we asked:

How do we make time change people, not just appearances?

  • We asked the tough questions, what conflicts happen in a long term marriage?

While keeping in mind the below:

Preserve the emotional DNA audiences loved – marriage as a core theme

Allow every major character to evolve naturally

Introduce conflicts that felt inevitable rather than manufactured – Eg: The return of Lakshmi into Sachi’s life before the leap seeding the start of the conflict

Marketing Familiar Characters with a New Lens

Instead of positioning them as completely new characters, we deepened them:

FOCUS POINTS:

Archana

Her commitment to marriage became her biggest strength, but now as the wife of Gokul not Sachi due to her memory loss

Sachi

Drawing a parallel with his first love loss Sachi, now an even deeper loss – his wife Archana

Avantika

From antagonist to also a mother.

Rather than abandoning who she was, we revealed who she could become.

This made every relationship richer.

Breaking The “Perfect Marriage”

Most family dramas protect the central marriage.

We chose to test it.

A forgotten chapter from Sachi’s past returned.

Not as melodrama.

But as a deeply relatable emotional dilemma.

Because real marriages are not challenged by strangers.

They’re challenged by unfinished emotions.

That single decision shifted from changing’s Mangalyam’s positioning from a story that spoke about the strength of marriage to…

to a story that tested and successfully prove the power of a true marriage at every step, no matter the circumstances !

The insight behind the relaunch:

Marriage is not an event.

It is an emotional journey.

Every promo, every visual and every campaign asset reflected this belief.

Rather than revealing twists,

we invited audiences to ask:

Can love survive everything life brings after marriage? Mangalyam will show you the story.
