Nausea and Vomiting:

Resolves after first trimester

Management:

  • Dry Foods (toast)
  • Avoid oily and greasy foods
  • Small frequent meals
  • Hydration
  • Ginger ale, ginger tea, peppermint tea

Constipation and hemorrhoids:

Management:

  • Eat high fiber rich foods
  • Daily exercise
  • Drink water and fluids
  • Ice packs and sitz bath may help

  • Severe swelling redness, pain, redness or warmness of extremity

Be alert to patients with a history of hypertension

Assess transportation and financial needs of clients who are high risk.

Be alert to patients with a history of mental health problems or depression as they are more at risk for depression in pregnancy.
