Introduction

  • Home automation is the automatic control of electronic devices in your home. These devices are connected to the Internet, which allows them to be controlled remotely.
  • With home automation, devices can trigger one another so you don’t have to control them manually via an app or voice assistant.
  • For example we can switch off light bulb via our respective device using bluetooth and wifi .
  • Home automation makes lif more convenient and can even save you money or heating, cooling and electricity bills.

Aurdino nano

  • The Arduino Nano is a small, complete, and breadboard-friendly board based on the ATmega328 (Arduino Nano 3. x). It has more or less the same functionality of the Arduino Duemilanove, but in a different package. It lacks only a DC power jack, and works with a Mini-B USB cable instead of a standard one.

2 channel relay (5v )

  • 2 channel 5 v relay module is a relay interface board , it can be controlled directly by a wide range of microcontroller such as aurdino AVR, PIC , ARM and so on .
  • It is used a low level triggered control signal to control the relay . Triggering the relay operates the normal open or normally closed contacts

Bluetooth module

  • HC-05 Bluetooth Module is an easy to use Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) module, designed for transparent wirele serial connection setup.
  • HC-05 Bluetooth module provide switching mode between master and slave mode which means it able to use neither receiving or transmitting data

LOAD BULB (220V)

  • The specification for the lamp load allows for the fact that the switch-on current of a filament lamp is n times greater than the rated current.
  • The resistance only rises sharply as a result of the filament heating up.

Connecting wires

  • Wires are used for establishing electrical conductivity between two devices of an electrical circuit.they posses negligible resistance to the passage of current .

Veroboard

  • Veroboard is a brand of stripboard, a pre-formed circuit board material of copper strips on an insulating bonded paper board which was originated and developed in the early 1960s.

6/21/2022

  • Arduino based home automation using Bluetooth project helps the user to control any electronic device using Device Control app on their Android Smartphone.
  • The android app sends commands to the controller-Arduino, through wireless communication, namely Bluetooth.
  • The Arduino is connected to the main PCB which has Three relays as shown in the block diagram. These relays can be connected to different electronic devices like two bulbs ,fan etc.

  • when the user process on the button displayed on the app for the device 1 , the bulb is switched on . This bulb can be switched off , by pressing the bulb off button.
  • Similarly, when the user presses on the ON button displayed on the app for the device 3 , the fan is switched on . The fan can be switched off by , pressing the Fan off button.
  • This project of home automation using bluetooth and aurdino can be used for controlling any AC and DC Devices.

Result

  • With the use of Bluetooth controller app we give command to Bluetooth and then Bluetooth receive this command
  • Program which is in aurdino and in mobile their reference will get match and then pin will get active.
  • Then signal is go to the relay through relay driver after relay get activate and then application will get on.

Application of home automation

15

6/21/2022

  • The inefficiency of operation of conventional wall switches can be overwhelmed using various home automation systems (without using conventional switching methods ) .
  • The loss of power can be reduced and manpower required for home automation is very less compared to conventional methods.
  • Home automation system with automated door locking and security cameras facilitates more security.

16 of 20

  • The IR, RF, android application, Arduino, Bluetooth, DTMF, etc., based home automation systems can be more efficient, provides ease of operation.Provides safety from electrical power short circuits while using conventional wall switches to operate loads.
  • By using a home automation system, we can save a lot of time to operate home appliances from anywhere (without wasting time to move from office to home for just unlocking door for family members to enter the home)

Limitations of home automation

  • IOT (Internet of Things) devices doesn’t have any international compatibility standard
  • They could be difficult to use for elderly people
  • IOT is less useful in case of frequent internet disconnections
  • Reduction in the employment of manual tasks thus resulting in job reductions like watchman, sweeper, utensil cleaner maid, housekeeping, home attendants, general stores nearbyInternet of Things device may take control of life in due course of time with increasing AI technology]

Conclusion

  • In this following ppt we discussed how different component can be used to bring ease to our day-to-day life.
  • Further we explained each component of (IOT) system, 1.8, Bluetooth Module
  • Also discussed the application, Limitations of devices.
