  • Developed updated training for Block captains and Radio operators.

  • Updated to the Community Emergency Plan to a more comprehensive plan that is scalable based on the severity of the emergency.

  • Staffed a booth at the County Wide emergency preparedness day, which was well received, passed out handouts to help people stock their home for an emergency and other useful preparedness handouts.

  • Promoted local county safety training that occurs at the Jefferson County library.

  • Presented to East Jefferson County Rotary club to secure funds for new solar generator systems for the Charlie location.

  • Coordinated Great Washington Shakeout, including a radio drill and the event itself.

  • Updated the block captain roster and recruited more captains to replace those that are no longer available to serve.

  • Conducted monthly meetings with the county, including the Fire Chief and the Department of Emergency Management.

  • We have nearly 100 people that help to keep the village safe, and several core people that I would like to thank as well: Jeannie Price for the Dart program and providing Block Captain training, Richard Schurman for developing the Community Emergency Plan, donating radio equipment and repeaters, as well as training Radio Operators and Block Captains, Jay Bakst for running the Great Washington Shakeout program, Tracy Geipel and Geoff Lang for their contributions representing PLVC on our committee, including posting info to the PLVC website.
