Developing a Brand

Show the Ice breaker slide. Ask students to identify the brands. See how many your students can identify. Reveal the answers. How do the logos connect to the mission or work of the company? What makes these logos memorable?

Part 1 (20-25 mins): Naming your drink. Show the Naming Exercise video (6:48). Show the Drink naming worksheet and direct students to the student portfolio page: Lesson 7: Naming your drink. Explain that teams should work through the worksheet and decide on a name.

Part 2 (30-40 mins): Designing your can. Show the Designing the Can video (8:13). Direct students to the student portfolio page: Lesson 7: Can design. Explain that teams should work through the worksheet/paper design or Canva design and come to a consensus about the final design.

You may consider grading the can design with some or all of the following criteria:

    • Audience
    • Layout
    • Detail
    • Content/originality

Students can research videos, tutorials or other resources related to logo design or designing a logo using a platform that is new to them and come up with a new and improved can design (a second iteration).
