  • Sliver Fern 銀蕨 根據毛利族傳說，只要將銀蕨翻面，便會在夜晚反射月光，為勇士找到回家的路，被公認為最能代表國家民族與榮譽。被稱作「黑衫軍」的紐西蘭國家橄欖球隊，便以銀蕨與黑色基底作為象徵，紐西蘭航空也將黑白銀蕨的圖樣印在機尾。

  • Kiwi 奇異鳥 夜行性動物。翅膀因為不需要使用所以退化成一小塊骨頭。奇異鳥與其他鳥類不同的是他的鼻子長在鳥喙的最下端，所以可以輕易聞到十公分深的蟲子或蚯蚓。天敵是人類和貓狗。壽命可長達30年。奇異鳥的蛋在體內的體積大到占身體的2/3，是世界上比例第二大的鳥類。奇異鳥是保育類動物，目前大多出現在保育公園等人工培植之處。

  • Kea 啄羊鸚鵡 大型的高山鸚鵡。常常可以在野生的環境看到，但不是因為數量多，而是因為他們喜歡在人群出現的地方。目前紐西蘭剩下5000多隻。個性調皮，有時候會有兩隻Kea一起，一隻在前面吸引觀光客的注意，一隻在後面偷包包。他們的外表與其他鸚鵡不同的是，羽毛顏色黯淡。這是因為他們飛得比老鷹低，所以不鮮豔的顏色可以防止被老鷹攻擊；但是翅膀打開有鮮艷的橘色。
