Meaning of Global Warming

Global warming refers to the long-term rise in Earth's average temperature due to the increase in greenhouse gasses, such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. These gasses trap heat in the atmosphere, leading to a warming effect on our planet.

Causes of Global Warming

WASTEGENERATION

DEFORESTATION~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Recycle!!!

BURNINGFOSSIL FUELS

Change to renewableenergy sources!!!!

TRANSPORTATION~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Use public transportation!!!

7 of 19

Burning Fossil Fuels

The combustion of coal, oil, and natural gas for energy production, transportation, and industrial processes releases large amounts of carbon dioxide.

8 of 19

Deforestation

Trees absorb carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and release oxygen. When forests are cut down or burned, the stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere which contributes to global warming.

9 of 19

Transportation & Waste Generation

Transportation is the increasing use of cars, trucks, airplanes, and ships, which rely on fossil fuels contributes to carbon dioxide emissions.

Waste Generation is when a larger population produces more waste and if it’s not managed properly it can lead to methane emissions from landfills.

Effects of Global Warming

Rising Global Temp

The most direct effect of global warming is the increase in Earth's average temperature, which leads to heat waves and more frequent wildfires

Sea Level Rise

As the temperature increases, polar ice caps and glaciers melt, causing sea levels to rise, which threatens low-lying coastal areas, islands, and cities

Health Impacts

Global warming worsen air pollution, spreads vector-borne diseases, and increases heat-related illnesses and mental health issues

Transition to Renewable Energy

Changing from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources like solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power will reduce carbon dioxide emissions and improve air quality.

Solar Power

Geothermal Power

Hydropower

Wind Power

16 of 19

Reforestation

Planting trees and preserving forests helps absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and maintain ecosystems.

17 of 19

Sustainable Transportation

Encourage the use of electric vehicles, public transportation, cycling, and walking to reduce carbon emissions from the transportation sector.

18 of 19

Waste Reduction &Recycling

Promote recycling, and use waste-to-energy technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from waste management.
