Writing - Module 1: Research
We have been working so hard in our Reading unit learning about inventors who have made a difference in our society with their innovative thinking and ideas. In this unit of Writing, we are taking our knowledge we learned about in Reading (determining central ideas and finding supporting evidence, identifying text structures and using that to determine central ideas, and analyzing text features to understand information presented in a text better), and applying it to a research project in Writing.
We are choosing an invention that we would like to further learn about and researching the invention. We are looking to find out it’s purpose and what was going on in the world at the time to see the problem the inventor was trying to solve. We are looking to find out it’s development by looking at the process of inventing it and even the development of the improvements of the invention overtime. Lastly and most importantly, we are gathering information about the contribution it has made to our society at the time and even in today’s society.
