Welcome, Educators!

This Diffit Professional Development Deck is built to help you introduce Diffit and support teachers in using it confidently in the classroom. Every school is different, so we’ve designed this deck to be flexible and easy to adapt.

Here’s how you can use it:

  • No-Prep PD: Use slides 3–17 to lead a ready-to-go training session. Best if teachers have devices and can follow along. Speaker notes included.
  • Customize Your Session: Pick the slides and videos that best fit your team’s needs. Share what resonates most.
  • Spread the Word: Send slides or videos via email or post on social media to support other educators.

Change Student Activities

You can change the student activities:

  • Click “Change Activity” to explore a library of graphic organizers and activities
  • Automatically suggests activities for your content

Everything is customizable.

  • Click any text to Edit keeps you fully in control of instructions and content
  • Modify and Add buttons give you advanced options for adding and customizing content

You can translate and relevel the resources and activities you create.

To translate or relevel:

  • Click the language or grade on the top left menu
  • Select the language or grade from the drop down
  • Click Regenerate

A new version will be created and the original version will be saved to “My Resources”

Literally Anything

With Literally Anything you can give Diffit a prompt, question, topic, or concept and it will generate a reading and resources for that topic.

  • Search for a topic, term, or question here. It helps to be as specific as possible.
  • Choose an approximate reading level and language.
  • Optional: You can select standards to align to.
  • Under “More Options”
    • Select Informational or Fiction Text
    • Select Pages or Slides (Coming soon!)

Start with a Book

Diffit can create resources to support chapter books or novels you are using in your classroom.

  • Select the “Books” tab
  • Search for the chapter book for novel you are teaching
  • Select the chapter(s) you want resources for.
  • Select the grade level and language
  • Optional: select standards to align to.
  • Click “Generate” and it will create a chapter summary, and vocabulary and questions aligned to the chapter.

Diffit can turn any article into a reading with student-ready resources.

  • Paste the article URL.
  • Choose a reading level.
  • To keep the original text, select “Preserve Original.” Leave it unchecked to have Diffit re-level the text to your selected grade level.
  • Optional: Choose a language to translate the reading.

Any Text or Excerpt

With PDF or Text you can copy a text or reading passage and it will adapt it into a leveled reading and resource set.

  • Select “Text or PDF”
  • Paste text or upload a PDF
  • Choose a reading level.
  • To keep the original text, select “Preserve Original.” Leave it unchecked to have Diffit re-level the text to your selected grade level.
  • Optional: Choose a language to translate the reading.

Start with a Vocabulary List

You can create a reading and resources from a list of vocabulary words:

  • Go to app.diffit.me
  • Click “Vocabulary”
  • Add your vocabulary words to the text box, make sure each word is on its own line
  • Select grade level and select language
  • You can also align to standards before generating
  • When ready, click generate resource

  1. Head to Diffit.Me
  2. Click “Login”
  3. Click “Continue with Google” or “More sign-in options”
  4. Create your first resource using “Literally Anything” by giving it a topic and selecting a grade level.

Create an Account

  • Click “Create Free Account” on the top right corner.
  • You can either “Sign in with Google” or click “More sign-in options”
  • When you click “More sign-in options” you can sign in with Microsoft, Google, or use and email and password to sign in.

Show Sources on Resources

When generating a reading, Diffit uses real cited sources

  • Generate a text using “Literally Anything”
  • Click the text and a menu will open that says “Show Sources”
  • Select it and it will show all the sources it used to create the text.
  • You can also select “Show Sources” from the expanded menu at the top of the reading by clicking the three dots.

Edit and Remove Sources

When using “Literally Anything,” you can exclude unwanted sources

  • After generating a reading, select show “Show Sources” either by clicking the text and then selecting it from the menu or clicking the three dots on the right at the top of reading.
  • Review the sources, if there is one you’d like to exclude click “Edit Sources and Regenerate”
  • Deselect the source or sources you’d like to exclude and then click “Regenerate”
  • A new reading will be created that excludes the source(s) you deselected.

Add Questions

For Multiple Choice and Short Answer Questions can add questions in multiple ways:

  • Your states ELA Standards
  • Literacy Skills
  • Common Core Standards
  • DOK Levels
  • Or add in custom instructions

For Open Ended Prompts you can add questions by DOK Level or by using the custom option.

Modify Questions

Questions can be modified in a variety of ways, including

  • Increase complexity
  • Decrease complexity
  • Focus on questions on…
  • Only include questions about…
  • Don’t include questions about…

There is also a custom option where you can specify your own modifications by typing in custom instructions.

Add Vocabulary

You can add vocabulary terms to a resource set by selecting “Add Vocabulary”

  • To add your own words, select “Add your own Words” and type or paste a list of up to 20 words, separated by commas.
  • To pull words from the text, select “Pull key words from the text” and select how many words to add.

Click generate to add the words.

Modify Vocabulary

The vocabulary list can be modified in a variety of ways, including;

  • Increase complexity
  • Decrease complexity
  • Focus on Academic Vocabulary
  • Focus on Content Vocabulary

The reading passage can be modified in a variety of ways, including;

  • Include more detail
  • Remove information
  • Rewrite with vocabulary words

Translate

Once you create a resource set, you can translate it into over 70 languages.

  • Click the language drop down to the right of the title of your resource
  • Choose the language you want.
  • A translated version will be created
  • The original version will be stored in “My Resources” for you

To see previously generated Resources:

  • Log In
  • Click “My Resources” on the home page or click the file icon when on a Diffit resource

From here you can access the sets again, edit sets, create new ones, delete sets, and get a link to share with colleagues.
