“I'm just sending you this email to tell you about my research position!

With the amazing letter of recommendation and lab skills you have taught me, I have a job in Christopher Quinn's laboratory as a lab technician! While I am not officially doing research work, I am working in his lab to make agar plates, sterilize equipment, and of course, cleaning dishes. Dr Quinn has even suggested that I come back next semester and over the summer to start more hands-on research work!”

“Lastly, I have an interview for a lab this Thursday! I am so excited. It is a microbiology lab that studies the effects of vaginal microbiomes on bacterial endometriosis,

HIV transmission in women, and why HIV treatment is less effective on women than men. (Literally mind-blowing and life-changing stuff).”

“I had an interview the other day!

They said I have the position”

Izzy: Freshman at UW-La Crosse

I am a research assistant in the Miskowski Lab at UW-La Crosse. Our research addresses the problem of parasitic worms infecting livestock and the relatively few effective treatments on the market. To counter this problem, we are investigating the use of CL-5, a plant-derived chemical, to eliminate these parasitic worms using C. elegans. Weekly, I manage the upkeep of my assigned worm strains and perform DNA analysis with the leading professor. I also regularly run experiments to determine the effect of differing drug concentrations on different worm strains. “
