Backhand

  • The simplest throw, with the back of the hand facing the target. Usually accompanied by a pivot across the body.

Forehand/flick

  • A throw held with a different grip to the backhand (middle and index fingers on the inside rim of the disc), and using a flick of the wrist to throw from the dominant side of the body.

Hammer

  • An overhead throw held with the forehand grip
  • The best throw, if you ask many OW players

Turnover

  • When the disc touches the ground due to an interception or a block, causing possession to go to the other team. The offensive team becomes the defensive team and vice versa

Noun

  • The movement made by an offensive player with the intention of receiving the disc. May involve running towards or away from the disc.

Verb

  • Move towards or away from the disc with the intention of receiving the disc.

  • The area closer to the endzone than the disc.

The Pull

  • To begin a point, the team with the disc with throw it across to the other team, lined up at their endzone. This is called the pull.
