Mission

  • To cultivate North Capitol Hill’s emergency preparedness

aligned with Seattle Emergency Hubs.

  • To serve after a disaster as a community gathering place for information.

  • A group of active volunteers.

  • We welcome neighbors who can provide any amount of time or skills to expand the Hub’s capacity.

  • Part of a city-wide volunteer network of 70+ organized neighborhood hubs.

  • Connected through 2-way radio to other hubs.

Q: What do we do before a disaster?

  • Cultivate emergency preparedness.

2023 Neighborhood Focuses:

  • Water and food storage

  • Gas safety and fire mitigation education

  • Increasing public awareness about the Hub

2023 Hub Focuses:

  • Equipping the Hub and Hubsters with essential gear and supplies

  • Developing and practicing systems specific to our Hub

  • Building mutual aid connections with the hub network and neighbor hubs

Q: Before a disaster, when do we meet?

  • Monthly on 2nd Wednesday of each month, 6-7pm.

  • In person when possible, at 7th-day Adventist Church, 1300 E Aloha.

  • A community gathering site that activates in the event a major disaster occurs that makes it impossible to share information in conventional ways.

  • A place to meet and exchange needs, resources, and information with neighbors and the city, and help the community respond quickly and effectively.
