Install Checker Plus - GURU

Go to the Chrome Web Store

Type “checker plus” in the search box

Click “Add to Chrome”

Check the top right corner for a envelope icon.

Add G Suite Training Extension

Go to the Chrome Web Store

Type “Gsuite Training” in the search box

Click “Add to Chrome”

Go to Gmail and look for this on the right side of your window.

Create a Signature

  1. Open your Gmail

  • Click on gear icon

  • Go to Settings

  • Go about half way down and you’ll see “Signature”

  • In the "Signature" section, add your signature text in the box. You can format your message by adding an image or changing the text style.

  • At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.

Customize Your Inbox

You can choose a few options on how your Inbox will look:

Inbox Type will push Unread, Starred, etc. emails to the top of your Inbox

Categories: Gmail will categorize your emails based on if they are social media related, promotional/ commercial emails, etc. You can decide which categories to use, you can always turn the categories back off

Change Your View

Turning this “ON” will group together all emails that are connected. They will be no longer be grouped by data received.

Archive vs. Delete

Finding an archived email:

Once an email is archived, you can find it by searching in the search bar for any word that appears in the email.

There is no folder/label “archive” in which it is stored.

Choose which is right for you!

Archive = removed from inbox but NOT deleted

Delete = removed from inbox and will be permanently deleted in 30 days.

To move an email from “Archive” back to your inbox:

Locate the email using the search bar.

Manage Your Labels (Folders)

Labels are folders. You can also create sublabels (folders inside folders)

On a computer, open Gmail. You can't edit labels from the Gmail app on your phone.

Manage Current Labels:

On the left side of the page, find the label you want to manage. Click the to get these options

Create New Label:

Click Create new label

This tag thing is a label.

  1. Open Gmail.
  2. In the search box at the top, click the Down arrow .

  • Enter your search criteria. If you want to check that your search worked correctly, see what emails show up by clicking Search.
  • At the bottom of the search window, click Create filter.
  • Choose what you'd like the filter to do.
  • Click Create filter.

Contacts/Labels (groups)

You can now get to the contacts page by clicking the Apps icon in the upper right corner of the Gmail inbox.

Click on Duplicates to merge duplicates.

In contacts, the labels are contact groups.

To create a new group email list, click “Create Label”.

Restore Deleted Emails

Google Trash only holds emails for 30 days. Emails transferred from Outlook Trash WILL ONLY BE IN YOUR GOOGLE TRASH FOR 30 DAYS. If you would like to restore any of these emails:

Go to your Trash in Gmail. Click on the email you want to restore. This menu will show up.

Click what you want.

Gmail offers so many options. Go ahead and select the ones that suit you.

Smart Compose

Write emails faster with this feature that adapts to your writing style.

Nudges

Old emails that you may need to reply to will appear at the top of your inbox. You can quickly “dismiss” them if you don’t need to reply. But if there’s a chance you forgot, this is a great reminder tool.

Send and Archive:

If you’re not a huge fan of archiving because it can be difficult to find archived emails, choose “Hide”

Desktop Notifications

If you don’t want popup notifications to show, disable. This is helpful if you are presenting to students and don’t want them to see the popups.

A little number will appear in the tab header telling you how many unread messages you have.

Calendar Sharing

Click on the next to the calendar.

Then click on Settings and Sharing and scroll down to Access permissions.

You can get to your Google calendars by clicking the Apps icon in the upper right corner in Drive or Gmail inbox. Then click the calendar icon.
